This invention relates to a pressure frame thin matricesor impressions produced by galvano-plastic means are secured upona base plate so that they are perfectlyeven and fixed in position, pressurerings being used for the aforesaid purpose.
In the known constructions of pressure frames of this description, the pressure rings have been'attached by means of screws to'the overhanging-edge of the pressure frame. I
This method of attachment involves particular care in handling, since in order that the matrix may lie evenlyupon the baseplate,
an even tension or pull exerted by the screws even pressure exerted by the pressure ring upon the entire circumference of the matrix or impression plate which is diiiicult to obtain, even where a large number of equally cumference. v I
By means of the pressure frame constructedf'according to the invention, the attachment of the simple pressurering is so effected that it is held down evenly around its whole circumference, and so that, without the use of screws this even pressure of the pressure 7 ring is communicated to the base plate,or to the matrix or impression surface.
According to the invention this is effected by constructing the pressure ring as a spring ring, that is to say it is formed so'that it is resilient either in the circumferentlal sense importance at the first pressing. By reason of the resiliency of the pressure ring, the,"
easy and simple removal of the samefrom the groove in the pressure frame can be effected.
The subject of the invention is shown by l jloved. V
g way of example inthe accompanying drawfor record plates or discs, by meansof which 1 ings, in which ,Fig. 1 is a vertical sect-ion :ofone. method of construction; W M n with the pressure ring-"re- 2 is a pla Fig. 3

Referring to .Figs. to 3, thel p'ressure is mplan with the pressure." ring nserted. Q i
frame includes astrong base plate-1 having 7 j a central supporting peg 2 to extend through acentralopeningin the-matrix 0r imnro ssion plate 3' and thereby hold the latter in place. In the neighborhood of its circum- -ference,]the base plate 1 is provided with a circular groove. 4 the outer wall orsu-rface' 5 of whichis extended in an inwardly slanting direction or is curved upwards, as shown at :Eigg'zl, The pressurering 7 is cylindrical on its innersurface and has a-substantially conical portion Goon itsoutersurface and is pro- Videdwith an inwardly extending annular flange 7* adapted to--rest on the -,1natri i, which extends" approximately horizontally and at right angles to the'part .6. Sll'd pressure ring is formed in themanner. of a piss .ton' ring, being provided with abreak or split a resilient manner but tends automatically to spring outwards-into its original form, In thls way on -be1I1g"pIf6SS6d or rolled into the groove 4 of the base plate, the ring rests resiliently against the outer wall of the groove and is at the same time forced clownwards owing tothe conical formation of the outer wall 5 ofthe groove 4 and at the same time ispressed around its Whole peripheryin such away that it presses with uniform pressure upon the matrix 3 by means of the circumferential flange 7. l
In the constructional embodiment illus tratedat Figs. 4 and 5,-i the pressu'reframe 1 is provided with two circumferential grooves .10? and 11; The inner circular groove 10 is formed at its outer -wall 12 so that it is of circular arc shape in cross-section;
The'outer-groove 11 may be of any appro- '8 i '9, Fig.3,sjo thatitf can be forced inwards in priate shape It is'simply intended for the reception of material extruded during the pressing from the pressure mass or material. The cross section of the pressure rlng 7 in the constructional embodiment accordlng to.
'Figs.4' and 5 includes two substantially 'S V shapedadj acent 'cireular are shapedzportions 6a, 6b, of which the first is flattened at its end. -Bythisformation ofthe ring itis ren-.
dered resilient in itself; and by'its resilience can be easily pressed into the circular groove 10 ivhilst remaining perfeetlytight against the Wall 12 of the groove 4 and pressing simultaneously ina springy manner upon the matrix 3, so that the extrusion of pressed material between the seating of-thepres'sure ring and the matrix is prevented.
' 13 is a perforation through Whieha gentle push can be exerted from below upwards.
That I claim and desire to secure'by-LettersfPa'tent of the United States of America i 1 p i discreeords;comprising a, base plate having an annular groove inits upper side, the outer Wall of which groove-is.hollo.v. and a resilient pressure ring, having a flange on its inner periphery to bear on and. around the edge of a matrix plate on said base plate and also having annulanportion to enter said V groove, said annular portion having a convex outer peripheryto snap, by'the resihence of the said pressure ring lnto'engagement W1th the said hollow outer Wall};
QQA pressure frame or :1 device ae'cording to cla-inrll, wherein: the pressure ring is formed as a complete ring substantially S shaped in cross section and in Which the groove is provided with a Wall having an are shaped curve into which the ring is adapted to be sprun 1 8. Apressure frame'or device according to claim 1, Whereinthe frame is provided beneath thegroove for the reception of the pressure ring with at least one perforation for the purpose of pushing the ring out ofi the groove from beneath Y Inwitness whereof'laflix my signature; i FRITZ SQHELLHOBN.
