`This invention relates to a` device which is removably mounted on the neck of a stringed instrument for the purpose of changing the key to enable the player to 5 play in different keys Vwithout changing the fingering. n v
An object of my invention is to provide a capo tastor of the character stated which firmly clamps the strings and `which canbe 10 adjusted to suit the size ofthe instrument neck. Y
Another object is to provide a capo tasto which will .not mar the instrumentand which can'be moved along the'finger board l5 without removal from the instrument.y
` @ther objects, advantages, and features of' invention may appearfrom the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description, and the appended claims.
In the drawing: j
Fig. l is afragmentary, perspective view of a stringed instrument with my capo tasto in position thereon.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the capo tasto. v
Fig. 8 is a longitudinal sectional view of a modiied form of my capo tasto taken on a line substantially as 3 3, Figure 2.
Fig. 4 is a side view of a slightly modified formof capo tasto.y `v yReferring more particularly to the drawing: i j
My capo tasto 1 comprises a soft rubber block 2 which presses against the strings of the instrument. A rigid reinforcing late 3 is positioned inside of or on top o the j block 2 and the block is secured to or molded around the plate.
which will be further described.
An elastic strip 5 is secured at one end ,of one lug, extends over the top of the block2, and thence over the other lug 4, and is then wrapped around the neck 6 of the instrument, the required tension beingprovided by a plurality of eyelets 7 positioned in the will permit of various tensions on the block 2 and, also, these eyelets will permit my capo tasto tok be positioned on instruments having diiferentnecks.
In Figure 4 I have shown a form ofcape 55 tasto in which a metal reinforcing cup 8 is provided, into which the block 2 lits and pins 9, 9' extend into either end of the block upon which the eyelets 7 are hookedjto hold thev capo tasto in position. Y
Having described my invention, I claim` 1. A capo tasto comprising a rubber block, an elastic strip secured to the block vat one end thereof, andkmeans adjustable securing the vfree end oi' the strip to thefcapo tasto 65 whereby the capo tasto is held on the instrument. v Y
2. A capo tasto comprising a rubber block, reinforcing means lin said block, an elastic strip secured at one end to the block, eye- 7i lets in the strip, and means on the block upon which the eyelets are hooked to secure the strip around the neck of the instrument to hold the capo tasto in position. L
3. A capo tasto comprising a rubber block7 l reinforcing means in which said block is mounted, an elasticstrip secured at one end to the block, eyelets in the strip, and pins extending fromthe ends of said block upon which the eyelets are hooked to secure the strip aroundV the neck of the instrument to hold the capo tasto in position.y
