IMPROVEMENT IN FENCE-POSTS.
Specification forming part of Letters-Patent No. 178,684, dated J une 13, 1876; application filed April 10, 1876. v

In the drawing, A represents a hollow tubular post, rolled or cast of iron of suitable thickness, and provided throughout its length with a narrow slot or opening, a, through which the Wire-supporting staples O, that are driven into the interior wooden section or core B, projectr Alateralcross-wire or anchor, D, passes through a bottom staple of section B, and through holes of the tube to the outside, for the purpose of more firmly holding the post in the ground and preventing it being dra-Wnout.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination of an exterior metallic casing, A, having a slot or opening, a, with a wooden core, B, provided with staples 0, projecting through said slot, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of the outer metallic tube and the interior wooden core-section, having a bottom staple, with a cross-wire or anchor for retaining the core and post in'position, substantially as specified.
3. The combination of the outer tube and of the inner wooden core with a protectingcap, fastening-staple, and binding top wire, substantially as specified.
