IMPROVEMENT IN LAND-ROLLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,63 l, dated June 13, 1876; application filed March 21, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known lthat I, FREDUS B. HADLEY, of Monterey, Calhoun county, Illinois, have invented a'new and Improved Land-Roller, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a top view of my improved roller, part being broken away to show the construction; and Fig. 2 is an end view of the same, part being broken away to show the construction.

The object of this invention is to furnish an improved land-roller, which shall be so constructed that it may be made very heavy, and
at the same time be of light draft.
The invention consists of an improved landroller made hollow, and provided with ribs or flanges upon the inner surface of its shell and the heavy inner cylinder, as hereinafter. fully described.
A represents the frame ofthe roller, to which is attached the tongue B and the driver-s seat C, and to the side bars of which are attached A the bearings for the shaft D of the roller E. The roller E is made hollow, and to the inner surface of its shell are attached, or upon it are formed, ring flanges or ribs F, to serve as E, will easily roll forward upon the ways F as the said roller E is turned, making the draft light.
I am aware of the existence of a land-roller consisting of hollow cylindrical roller-sections and loose internal ballast-balls.
Ijavin g thus described my invention,`I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the heavy inner cylinder G with the hollow roller A, provided with internal circumferential ribs or ways F, as and for the purpose set forth.
