Description

1930. c. DE BENEDICTI V 1,784,657
RUG
Filed Sept. 4, 1929 Charles de Eauediccis INVENTOR.
CZMWJ ATTORNEY.
Patented Dec. 9, 1930 1 UNITED STATES PATENT oF Ice CHARLES DE BENEDICTIS, or PALISAIDES, NEw'JEBsEY RUG Application filed September 1,
It is well known that rugs of various shapes 7 have been used, but none incorporate the specific elements utilized in the manufacture of this particular article. o
The figure is a plan of a plain scatter rug with scalloped ends and fringed edge.
The rug shown has a rectangular body 14, with a center portion 15, and a center border 16, and an outer border 17, the edge of the rug is fringed in any suitable manner at 18, and the ends are scalloped at 19 and 20.
It is obvious that the center portion 15, the center border 16, the outer border 17, and the fringe 18, could be made in various colors, either like or unlike each other, and in various combinations, to produce an, artistic appearing article of manufacture and that tape could be sewed together with the fringe 18 to form stiffer edges in addition to the stifi'ening effect provided by the sinuous formation of the ends which function to prevent these ends from curling up. c
Having thus illustrated and described the, preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction or arrangement of parts shown, 40 7 since it is evident that modifications may be made therein, without departing from the spirit of the invention, or scope of the claims. 7 I claim 1. As a new article natin'g in scalloped ends providing sinuous stiffening curved portions adapted to prevent said ends curling, said rug having afringed specified.
of manufacture, a rug p 45 having a rectangularly shaped body termi- 1929. Serial N0. 390,256.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a rug having a rectangularly shaped body with a, central scalloped border andan outer border made in various colors and configurations 1 providing a rug with scalloped ends providing sinuous stiffening portions adapted to prevent the said ends from curling and having a colored fringed borderattached thereto, substantially as specified.
Signed at New York, county of New York, idgge of New York, this 29th day of August,
