The extracting drum 135 and the co-operating receptacle 132 are parts of a well known feeding mechanism now in general use and require no further description here beyond the statement that they operate to remove periodically the uppermost book page or leaf from the receptacle 132and propel the same along the top of the table 126.
As best indicated in Figs. 4, 5 and 6, a rocker shaft 139 similarin all respects to the rocker shaft 49 is associated with the delivery end of the table 126 and the top of the drum 18, said rocker shaft carrying bifurcated stop fingers 140 adapted and arranged to stop and position the pages 133 fed along the top of the table 126.
As best shown in Fig. 3, the rocker shaft 139 carries a rocker arm 141 carrying a set screw 142 contacting with the end of a lever 143 carrying a roller 144 running upon the periphery of the drum 18. The drum 18 is, to all intents and purposes, a duplicate of the drum 17 and the roller-144 is set in the path of the cam recesses 58 in the drum 18 and 1 whereby the stop fingers 140 will be operatr and whereby when said ed in conjunction with the gripper fingers to position and release the book pages 133 when gripped by the fingers 65.
It will be noted that the distance of travel between the point at which the book pages P the fingers 65 and the the drums 17 and 18 is considerably shorter than the corresponding distance of travel of the signatures 44 on the periphery of the drum 17. For this reason the cam pins 73 and 74 for the drum 18 are positioned somewhat closer together and the port 7 5 in the hollow shaft 12 is somewhat shorter than the port 75 in the hollow shaft 11. The rod 147 carries arm 152 co-operat I ing with an arm 153v onthe shaft96 and op erating to turn the shaft 96 upon such failure of the feed of a ping the machine just as the failure of the feedof afsignature 44 stops the machine as explainedabove.
