. 1 Application filed March 2,.
This invention relates to beverage dispensingand display devices of the type in which a constant circulation ofbeverage is adapted to be maintained from a refrigerated storage receptacle through a transparent display container and back to the storage receptacle.
A purpose of thepresent invention is to provide a device of the type mentioned com: prising essentially astorage receptacle, a display container and a circulating line of pip-' ing between said receptacle and said container, and to provide for. dispensing of the beverage from said circulating line after it leaves the storage receptacle and prior to its 'entrance into the display container, whereby the dispensed beverage will be at substantially the-same temperature as the main body of beverage in'the storagereceptacle.
Other purposes of the invention are to provide a simple, inexpensive means of enabling a dispensing spigot to be connected with the feed line betweenthe storage receptacle and the display container; to provide a spigot connection which will assure a good flow of beverage from the spigot whenever same is opened; to providea simple means of illumi V nating the display container and, in general,
to provide a beverage dispensing "and display device which iscomposed of few parts compactly arranged and capable of quick assembly and disassembly' to permit expeditious, cleaning of the device.
WVith the foregoing and other purposes-inview, the invention consists in the novel features or" construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustratedfin the accompanying drawing and defined in the appended claim. i V v V I 7 In the accompanyingdrawing, whereinis illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention, the figure is a vertical section through a beverage dispensing and display device constructed in accordance with the inventiong 1 Referring. to'the drawing by numerals, it
will be observed'thatthe presentbeveragedispensing and display device, vinaccordance with common practice, includesessentially a beverage storage receptacle A,1rei'rigerat-" ieaa; Serial in. 344,027.
ing apparatus for maintaining beverage within receptacle-A cool, and a displaycon tainer C through which beverage from rec'ep tacle Ais adapted to be constantly circulated.
Container (J consists of a hollow, transparentf body 10 of any suitable size, shape and design, normally closed at its open top by'a.
Container C issupportedupon a base 15 within which is arranged a casting 16' having apair of separate passageskl7 and 18 formed therethroughf This casting is attached to the lowerend of't ube 13, which. latteriis' in communication with passage 18,
while communicating. WithIpassage] 17 is a abottomporand projects upwardly through tube any 10am overflowing tube 13 will l be conducted." V
by offpassage 18 back toreceptacle A.
' Iniorder tov cause beverage "delivered into body 10 'froi nthe upper end of pipe 19 to new, in a; pleasing and attractive manner through I sa'idl,-body,, pipe :19. has-mounted :thereon apreferably, hollow member 23, of any desired s ape; having a stepped orjot herwise irregularly; formed outer face over -;which the: bev
erage is adaptedto flow ina cascade-'likeinanner. This member23,1preferabl is formed of translucent material and, is ac apted to beilluminated fronithfe interior thereof tofurther' add to. the attractiveness of the display.
Totliis end, I mount in casting 16 a conduit-25 which ex endsupwardly through tube 13 into the I interior er member 52 3 where it supports electric lamp e26, andin order to 'prote'ct '1 the lamp circuit conductors 27 from the beverage which is circulated through body 10 and tube 13, said conductors are housed within conduit 25, casting 16 being provided with 1- third passage 28 through which the conductors 27 are adapted to be led from conduit 25 to a suitable source of current.
In accordance with the purpose of providing for dispensing of the beverage prior to its entrance; into body-10, -a spigot 30is connected with passage, 17, through an opening 29 in the side of casting 15. Further, the ends of passage 17 are disposed out of axial alinement with one another to provide a battle wall 31 for changing the direction of flow of beverage from pipe 20 to pipe 19, and opening 29 is located adjacent to said baffle wall whereby, due to back pressure'of the beverage at the point where its direction of flow is changed, said beverage will tend to flow with substantially equal pressure'through spigot 30 when same is opened as through" pipe 19. I e
Refrigerating apparatus B, which may be )f any preferred type, is inclusive of'a cooler, a member connected withthe lower end 01" said tube, said member having a pair of' a nut for clamping said casing rigidly with respect to said container.
Intestim'ony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
' HARRY 0. SMITH.
ing coil 32 disposed against receptacle A, 7
whereby the beverage therein may be maintained at a desiredtemperature.
With pump 21 in operation it is apparent that beverage from receptacle A will be, delivered through pipe 20, passage 17 and pipe 19 into body 10 and that said beverage will, upon rising in body 10 to the level of the top of tube13, overflow saidtube and gravitate back to receptacle A through passage 18 and pipe 22. I Thus the beverage will be maintained thoroughly mixed so long as pump 21 is in operation, and as is further apparent, due to the fact that dispensing spigot 30 is located to take beverage from the feed line prior to its entrance into the body 10, the beverage'dispen'sed will be at substantially the same temperature as the beverage in receptacle A, particularly if pipe 20 is heat insulated as is contemplated.
.As will be observed from the drawing, tube 13'has threaded connection with casting 16 and the latter also has threaded connection with pipes 19, 20, 22 and conduit 25 so that the parts of my device are capable of being readily disassembled for cleaning-purposes and as readily assembled following cleaning;
From the foregoing description considered in connection with the accompanying drawing it is believed that the construction, oper ating and advantages of the invention will be clearly understood. ,It'is pointed out, however, that various changes and desirable additions may be made in and to the structure tending through the bottom of saidcontain-
