This invention relates to an improved dental floss holder especially made to permit the floss .to be stretched tightlythereon in a manner to permit it to be conveniently drawn the teeth.

Briefly described, the invention'comprises a bottle like container for the dental floss, acap on the container, a floss clamp on the cap, a spring bow extending beyond the cap, and means on the bow, whereby the free end portion of the dental floss may be connected therewith, whereby to stretch a portion of the floss tightly between the bow and the clamp to permit it to be held in this taut manner to be conveniently drawn back and forth between the teeth for cleaning purposes.

A feature of the invention consists in the utilization of a bottle container which has the additional function of a handle for manipulating the device.

A further feature is in having the top operating as a carrier for the spring bow, clamp and bottle embracing means associated with Other features and advantages will become description and drawings.

Referring now to the drawings by reference characters, it will be seen that the reference character 4 designates a small cylindrical glass bottle whose upper end is externally screw threaded for reception of a screwcap 5. The, screw cap is formed with an opening at the front for passage of the loose end portion 6 of the dental floss 7. The floss is wound on a spool contained in thebottle. A careful consideration of the description in conjunction with thedrawings will enable the reader to obtain a clear understanding of the construction, features and method of ma nipulation. Therefore, a more'lengthy de Minor changes in the shape, size, and rearrangement of details coming within the field of invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.

I claim: a 1. A dental floss holder comprising a container for the dental floss, a clip embracing the container and terminating in a clamping ortion positioned above the mouth of the bottle, a disc secured to said clampingportion and cooperatin therewith to present a circular groove of -shaped cross section in which a portion of the dental floss is wound, a resilient bow carried by said clip and having an angularly bent portion extending over and spaced above the said clamping portion of the said clip, said angularly bent portion being adapted to have the extremity of the dental floss attached thereto and being flexed to spring outwardly from the clamping porion of the said clip to cause the dental floss to become bound within the said groove.

A dental floss holder comprising a. dental floss containing member, a pair of clamping discs mounted on said container and presenting wedge-shaped clamping surfaces between which a portion of the dental floss is adapted to be engaged, a resilient bow mounted on the container and extending upwardly thereof and terminating in a keeper to which the end of the dental floss is adapted to be connected, said keeper being tensioned to exert a pull on the dental floss to cause the latter to become clamped between the wedge surfaces of the clamping .disc, and means for mounting said resilient bow on the said container.

In a dental floss appliance of the class described, a dental floss containing bottle, a screw cap mountel on said bottle, a clip embracing the bottle and having an arm portion extending therefrom and terminating in a bevelled disc like portion, said disc-like gortionbein fastened to said cap, a second isc fastened to said disc-like portion and forminga clamp with the first mentioned disc between which a portion of the dental floss is adapted tobe engaged, a resilient bow carried said clip and arm and extending upwardly beyond said cap, and having its upper extremities bent at right angles and tenninating in a dentalfloss keeper to which the end of the dental floss is adapted to be conneeted for effecting tension on the floss, to cause the dental floss to become bound betwen the opposed surfaces of the said clamping discs.
