In said drawing the numeral 5 indicates an engine-block embodying the usual crankshaft, 6, having a driving gear, 7 thereonV engaging'gear, 8, on cam-shaft, 9, in a Well known manner. The engineblock embodies a laterally projecting Wall, 10, forming part of a housing, 12, designed to support a magneto or other equipment usually mounted upon a bracket fitting tightly against the rear surface of the housing, which common arrangement has necessitated machining of such surface requiring considerable skilledlabor and expense.
Extending rearwardly from the Wall 10 is the Wall 12, said Walls constituting a housing having an oil inlet 13 at its upper sidelen closed by a removable cap 14, and in the rear Wall of said housing: I provide an opening 15 for a purpose to appear. In the Wall 10 is 'an opening 16 arranged in` concentric rela-A tion to the opening 15 in the Wall 12 of the housing, the latter being of less diameter. In said openings 15, 16, I insert a governor bearing carrier, 17, comprising the bearing heads 18,19, and hollow body portion, 20, having an oil inlet, 21, throughvvhich oil passes from the inlet 13 into the body-20 and thence to the actuating devices beneath, and also through the outlets 22 in head 19 for lubricating parts communicating therewith.

In the manner shown and described it will be apparent that use the housing wall l2Y for supporting an equipment of the character explained without the necessity of machining the wall, as before stated, with the result that a compact assei'nblage of a magneto and governor or other equipment is inexpensively accomplished, and which may be readily installed and removed in a comparatively simple and expeditious manner.
I claim as my invention:
1. An engine block having a transverse wall embodying an opening, a wall associated with the first mentioned Wall and having an opening therein, said walls constituting a housing and said openings being arranged concentrically, a governor bearing carrier insertible through said openings and supported by the housing, a support, and means for connecting said support to the carrier.
2. An engine block having a supporting wall, a Wall associated with the supporting wall, said Walls constituting a housing, a hollow governor bearing carrier embodying aV head mounted in the housing, a bracket secured to the head, a magneto mounted upon the bracket, a shaft extending from the magneto through the carrier, means for driving the shaft, and a governor connected to and driven by the shaft.
3. An engine block having a housing comprising a supporting wall embodying an opening, a wall embodying an opening associated with the supporting wall, said openings being in concentric relation, a governor bearing carrier embodying heads mountable vin said walls, a shaft extending through the heads, a gear on the shaft for driving the same, means for driving the gear, a casing enclosing the gear and driving means, and removable means for covering the casing.V i
4. An engine block having a housing comprising a rear wall embodying `an opening and a forward wall having an opening of greater diameter than the rear wall opening, a governor bearing carrier embodying heads, a shaft and a gear insertible as a unit through the opening in the forward wall and seated in the opening of less diameter in the rear Wall, said carrier having means for limiting its movement in relation to the rear wall, and a support secured to said carrier.
5. An engine block having a transverse wall embodying an opening, a wall associated with said iirst mentioned wall and having an opening therein, said walls constituting a housing, a governor bearing carrier embodying an oil inlet and outlet mounted in said housing, a shaft passing through the bearing carrier, a gear on the shaft, means for securing the gear and shaft to the carrier, and adjusting means in the housing and engaging the carrier whereby the latter may be forced inwardly.
' 6. An engine block having a housing comprising a rear Wall and a forward wall, said walls embodying concentric openings, an apertured hollow governor bearing carrier embodying heads mounted in the openings in said walls, a shaft extending through said heads, and means connected to the shaft whereby the latter is rotated from a source of power in the engine.
7. An engine block having an outer and an inner wall constituting a housing, said walls having openings arranged in concentric relation, a governor bearing carrier embodying a head removably mounted in said housing, a -shaft mounted in the bearing carrier, a gear on the shaft, means on the shaft for securing the gear and bearing carrier thereon, and-means in the carrier for inwardly forcing and maintaining its head against the housing.
