`This invention relates ,to a brake rod silencer. In thus applying the silencer the coils 9 are tensioned considerably and thesides 8 and sections 1`O j1sprung outoil shape so that the 80 ei'ect is to' force the `brake rod in a downward direction snugly against the lower end of the slotk 2/in the guide member 3. This insures against vibration of the rod and striking against'the sides of the slotKL which causes S5 rattling noises. e y i a The y construction described is simple to manufactureand easily made and very quickly applied without the use of tools' or employp ment'of skilled labor. Noises comingfrom vibration of the brake rods and striking of the sameagainst the sides of theslot in the guide member, are completely eliminated irrespective of theleXtent of Wearwhich may have occurred-on both the brake rod and the sidesof the slot. The invention is defined in the yappended claims and is to be considered comprehensive of all forms of structure coming within their scope.

A device of the class described formed from a single length of spring wire, bent Y at its middle portion to provide adownwardly extending lloop y open at itsl upper side and thence continued to rform reversed loops atl each sideof the first loop, said reversed l loops being continuedto provide downwardly f and outwardly extending sides, spring coils formed at the lower ends of said sides and straight sections extending from saidl coils downwardly and inwardly toward andacross eachother, each of said sections atvv its free. end being bent at right angles for a short distance and then bent' back upon itself to form afU-shaped hook.
