For imparting rotation to the blower element, we may provide sheave wheel 15 mounted on shaft 16, positioned in bracket 17 forming part of the head A. Keyed to one end of shaft 16 as at 18 is a driving pinion 19 meshing with a driven gear` 20, which in turnis fixed as by set screw 21 to the element.A One end vof the element passes into the head A through gland 22 and packing 23 and thread,- edly carries a valve cage 24,`thelatter being provided with a ysuitable cleaning fluid port or valve seat 25. Cleaning fiuid rnay be admitted to the interior of head A, in any suitable manner, as by supply pipe 26.y
Pivotally attached to valve cage 24, andadapted to rotate therewith, upon rotation of the blower element, is the valve 27 pivoted on` pin 28. This valve may be of theA plate type, as shown, and isv opened or closed by swinging upon pin 28. To govern this swinging movement of the valve, relative to the valve port 25, we have provided an exten'- sion 27a of the plate valve with a pin 28a carrying roller 29. This roller runs lin a maehined guide-way 30, of the stationary cam element 31, the latter being' secured to the head cover plate 32 by counter-sunk 'screws 33. The cover plate 32 may be attached to yhead A by bolts 34 and serves toclose the open end of the head. n
In Figure 2 the plate valve 2'7 is shown in its closed position, while in Figure 3, the valve is shown unseated with respect to the port or valve seat 25. The guide-way is made to vary with thedegree of blowing are desired. Thus it may be 'formed with a high level 35 and a low level 36. 'lVhenroller 29 runs from the low level 36 to the high level ,the transition point from the high yto the low level. At this point the valve 27 is swung with our invention, the cam element 3l including guide-way 30 may be readily removed and about its pivot 28 over against Vthe other limiting stop pin 39 and uncovering the port as seen in Figure3.` The valve is held open throughout the low level of the guide-way over the arc designated in Figure 3. In order that the operator might be advised when the valve isseated when an oscillatory movement is imparted to the blower element, we have provided stops 4l' andY 4Q, as shown in Figures 4L andl 5. These stops are located in the guide-way 30 and are engageable by ro-ller 29, when the latter moves from the low level 36y to the high level 35 for each direction of rot-ation of the blower element.
