I MPROVEMENT lN WHEEL-PLdWS.
Specification forming part of LettersPatent No. 177.562, dated May 16, 1876; application filed 1 March 21, 1876.
To a] l whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM A.v RUDInoK, of Carthage, in the county of Jasper and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Wheel-Plow, of which the'followin g is a specification: r
My improvement consistsv of an .A-frame mounted on the plow-beam transversely with a caster-wheel on the apex of the frame, to run on the land, a larger wheel at the end of one of the bars of the frame, and a tongue connected with the base of the frame, and the wheels contrived for raising and lowering at will to adjust the plow for furrows of different depths, and for carrying the plow above the ground, all making a simple and efficient machine that can be easily handled. v
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved plow, and Fig. 2 is a plan view.
Similar letters of reference indicate -correspending parts.
A is the plow-beam, B and O the bars of .the A-frame mounted on it; D, the casterwhe'el E, the furrow-wheel, and F the tongue. The caster-wheel is fitted on the cranked spindle Gr, extending up through the frame at H, and swiveled at the upper end to the bar I, which is connected to the elbow-lever J, for raising and lowering the wheel, and
by the sector 0. The "tongue is hinged tothe hind bar 0 of the frame, and works in a yoke, P, on the front bar, allowing it to swing up and down to accommodate itself to the varying heights of the plow on the wheels.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The A-frame B G, vertically-adjustable caster-wheel D, vertically-adjustable wheel E, and the vertically-adjustable tongue F, combined and arranged with the plow, substan-.
tially as specified. I
WILLIAM A. RUDDIOK.
