It is to be understood that as the various parts are detachably connectedthose interfering with .the said operation may be removed prior to the collapsing or folding of the derrick.
The derrick from the position of Figure 4 is adapted to be elevated by power from the machine and to this end, a cable 67 is adapted to be connected to the drum 32 on the calf reel shaft 30, which cable passes ,through and over pulley 68 and 69, respectively'carried by the frame 10 and the derrick adjacent the lower end of the latter. As
result Aof this construction, tensioning vof the cable 67 will elevate the derrick.
If desired, braces 70 may be detachably bolted as at 71 to the base 10 and the posts or rests 48.
In cases where drilling is to be effected at maximum depth, that is between 200 ft. and 800 ft., usually, the attachment Villustrated in Figures 5 and 6 is used. This attachment consists of a beam 80 which is detachably connected at 81 to the shaft 53 and Yjournaled on the latter, such beam 80 supplanting the beam or rod 55. @ne end of the beam 8O in this instance is pivotally connected to the' shaft 56 and from the other end of the beam, a temperr screw device used in deep drilling, as suggested at 82, is used. This device constitutes no part of the present vinvention and accordingly is not specifically shown. A trussrod or brace 83 is provided for beamk 80, extending yfrom adjacent one end thereof to adjacent the other end thereof.
Changes may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim as my invention v1. A rig of the class described having a base, a rearwardly Vand upwardly inclined post thereon, a shaft supported by said post, a derrick pivoted to said post and capable of folding movement relative to the base, a pulley on said shaft, a drum on the base, a drilling cable passing from said drum over said pulley, a second pulley over which said drilling cable passes, a spudding shaft on the base, means to drive said spudding shaft comprisinga pitman connected with the sec 0nd pulley, and a crank connection between said pitman and spudding shaft.
