Description
Aug. 19, 1930. P. STRUDEL UNRAVELING mcmm:
Filed Aug. 18, 1928 or spoons,
Patented Aug. 19, 1930 unnAvELine MAcHinE Application filed August is, 1928, Serial No. 300,488, and. in GermanyAugust 24 1927.
This invention refers broadly to the art of unraveling, ing woven, purpose of them from fluted rollers or the disheveling or similarly treatknitted and similar fabric for the loosening the threads-andfreeing their connectionand for'similarly by means of means to which the is fed by means of like disposed in the cavity of the trough-shaped concave recessed portion of a plurality ofadj acently disposed key-like bars or thelike, sometimes called spoons and constituting a gutter-shaped trough-running in parallelism with the combing or'defibrating drum and above or below the corresponding fluted roller, thelike being usually spring-actuatingly arranged. Among other important objectsthe invention is intended to facilitate the opera tion of the keys'and their cooperation with the fluted rollers and mentality, so that the taching the the combing I instru- 'manipulation of defibres from their connection in the weave is facilitated and a. more satisfactory product with a lower percentage of waste is obtained than it was generally possible heretofore.
In accordance with the broad features of my invention, these objects and other advantages are obtained by improving the operation of the introducing means for the fabric to be treated by a bars or the like provide spring-acting supports system of compensating d on or attached to the for the concave keys the said bars being adapted to cooperate with preferably sharp-teethed or large-teethed fluted rollers which may be arranged below said bars and in cooperation with the bars are adapted to determine the availablesize of the passage opening between the vertically displacea of the cooperating low the same. By
to be treated is uniformly to the combs or needles or the like.
ble concaved keys and fluted roller above or bethis means the. material and smoothly fed of the combing drum It is a further object of my invention to provide means by which the supports for the concaved keys are mounted adjacent each other in a guide, so th at'they will mutually such keys or .a device embodying the leading features of I my invention in a somewhat diagrammatic manner and in Fig. 1 in vertical section and in Fig. 2Jin horizontal section on the'linev 2-2 of Fig. 1.
The several concaved keys (spoons) 17- in the exemplification shown, are disposed above thefluted roller 16 and constitute together a trough-shaped,"so-called pianogroove or opera 7 bars 53, of thekeys 17 are adj acently and slidinglyjdisposed in guides 54 and may be singly withdrawn after the removal of the closing At their other ends the several sup porting bars 53 are provided with a'termi- 7 5 nating'stud 56 surrounded by and supporting a compression Y spring 57 which at its other end rests against the head'71 and may surround a stud 56 screw-threadedly secured in the head 71. Each ofthe concaved bars 8o- 17 is provided at its front side with a compensating bari7 2 which may be secured to the keys by screws 7 3. This bar 72 is provided with an upwardly inclined bottom surface 7 4; below which the fluted roller 75 is arranged. This roller 75, as'shown in the drawing, possesses comparatively large teeth which are of greater depth andsharper or more pointed than the teethof "the fluted roller 16. In front ofthe parts 7 4, 75 the usual introduc' at; tory' rollers 9, 10 are arranged; I 7 l j Themode of operation of the device is sub; stantially as follows: The fabrics introduced into the machine byvthe'rollers 9 and 10 are conducted against 9'5 the downwardly inclined surface 7 tand are guided into the slot 74L between the compensating bar 72 and-the fluted roller 75; In view of the sharp configuration "of their teeth the'rollers cause the material to ting slot 25. The supporting i be-re- 10D liably caught and fed towards the combing member 11, while the compensating bar 72 by means of its spring 57 is yieldingly adjusted in accordance with the nature of the 5 material, whether large-pieced or smallpieced fragments of fabric or pieces of greater or smaller thickness are treated. The material is subsequently led into the slot 25.
The fluted roller 16 in the exemplification shown, runs at a larger rate than the fluted roller 75 and this latter roller rotates more quickly than the fluted rollers 9 and 10, so
that the material reaches the point of operation in a stretched condition, which is a point of importance in facilitating uniform and substantially straight {unraveling of the fab ri'c. Theniachine maybe so adjusted that every kind of tissue and of knitted fabrics may be reliably treated unraveled and de- 2o eonrposedinto its thread constituents. The
invention has been described herein in its broad features only and it is to be understood that it may find expression in other embodimentsthan those herein shown merely by way of illustration of its principles, and without thereby deviating fromthe scope and spirit of the invention, as expressed in the accompanying claims.
39) 1.1 11 the art of unraveling woven and knitted fabrics in combination a plurality of a adjacently disposed spring-operating transversely concave key-bars, a fluted roller spacedly parallel with the eoncaved parts of saidbars and inclined guiding means co operating with the space between the roller and the conca-vedpart, admitting means :be-
the roller, and combing means cooperating withsaid roller. I r
.2. In the art of unraveling woven andknitted fabrics in combination combing means, a rotatable fluted roller cooperating therewith, a plurality of .adjacently disposed sprin --acting keys, troughed portions on said eys, constituting a groove spacedly surroundingpart of said roller, spring-acting supporting means for said keys, a down- Wardly inclined guide on said supporting means. opposite the combingmeans and fluted introducing means for the material below knitted fabrics in combination combing means, a rotatable substantially lengthwise extending fluted roller cooperating therewith, a plurality of spring-acting adjacently disposed keys, adjacent concaved portions on said keys, constituting a groove running in parallelism with said roller and somewhat spaced therefrom, a downwardly inclined guide on said keys opposite the combing means and a plurality of parallel teethed rotatable fabric-introducing rollers below said guide and increasing in speed in the direction of the combing means.
5. In the art of unraveling woven and knitted fabric in combination a plurality of vertically spring-acting transversely concaved adj acently disposed keys constituting a transverse, groove, a rotatable roller in said groove and spacedly parallel therewith, combing means on. one side of said roller, and a plurality of parallel teethed feeding rollers on the other side of the first-mentioned roller and increasing in speed towards the firstmentionedroller and of less angular velocity than the same.
6. In :a device of the kind described, combing means, a transverse flutedroller cooperating therewith, a plurality of spring-acting adj acently disposed keys concaved aroundthe roller'an'd constituting a groove spacedly parallel with said roller, guiding means in common for said keys and supporting bars for theflkeys within said guiding means and a detachable closing and securing plate on said guiding means and adapted to secure the supporting bars in adjacent position.
