Description

Aug. 19 1930. MUELLER 1,773,541
THREAD HOLDER FOR THE THREADING GUIDES OF STOCKiNG MACHINES Filed Jan. 8, 1929 IllllHHIHHHIIHIHIIHIll] HIIIHIIIIHIHHIHIB Inventor Attorney 'latented Aug. 19, 1930 r TATES r r OFFICE MAX MUELLER, OF BLOOMFIELD, N EW'JERSEY Application filed January 8, 1929. Serial No. 331,059.
The present invention appertains to improvements in threading guides for stocking machines of the full fashioned type of the rotary type, and the invention pertains more specifically to a threading guide.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improved threading guide.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the improved guide.
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary longitudinal sectional View.
Referring to the drawings, wherein like numerals designate like parts, the conventional threading guide consists of a T-shaped plate generally referred to by numeral 1. This plate generally includes the vertical portion 2 and the cross member 3, the end portions of the cross member 3 being formed with transversely extending slots 4- 1. A lug 5 projects longitudinally from the cross member 3 longitudinally alined with respect to the vertical portion 2. The upper portion of the plate 1 is bent obliquely with respect to the intermediate portion of the plate, while the lower portion of the plate assumes the V slight curvature that is generally denoted by numeral 7. The vertical portion 2 of the plate is formed on its outer side with a longitudinally extending groove 8 opening at each end 1 into an opening 9. The opening 9 is close to the pointed end portion 10 of the plate and has communication with the bore 11 which extends through the pointed end portion 10 and opens at the pointed end of this portion. The foregoing description sets forth the conventional type of threading guide now in general use, and the present invention is to improve this conventional guide by forming converging notches 1313 at one longitudinal edge portion of the plate 1 adjacent the pointed end portion 10. These notches are wedge shaped and the portions of the plate outwardly of the notches are preferably.
flared outwardly in a manner to provide a head 14. It will thus be seen that a thread may be wound around this head 14, and firmly wedged within the notches 1313.
This forms a very simple and inexpensive novel thread holder for the v modification of the conventional threading guide and will require but small cost to adopt.
t is of course to be understood that the improvement may be readily embodied in threading guides of somewhat different designs without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as embodied in the claim hereinafter.
. Having thus described the invention, what I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is zv A thread guide for full fashioned machines comprising a body slotted adjacent one end and pointed at this end and formed with a bore extending from the outer end of the slot through the pointed end of the body, the said body being formed at one side with a pair of converging notches terminating adjacent each other to provide an outwardly flaring head on which the thread end may be wound. T In testimony whereof I .affix my signature.
MAX MUELLER.
