My present invention relates to the provision of signal and recording devices for use in connection with supervisory and alarm circuits and has particular' relation to the provision of such instrumentalities in connection with a main supervisory location.
As will hereafter be seen I have provided neans whereby when an alarm circuit is closed in the general supervisory and alarm circuit,
my instrument will display a target disclosing that the alarm of the general supervisory circuit has functioned and it will also make a record to the same effect. ln addition to the displaying of the target and the making of the record it will be seen that local signals,
preferably auditory and visual, will be energized until the apparatus is restored to set position, and that the mechanism cannot be restored to eliminate the local signal until the alarm circuit in the general supervisory circuit is opened or cleared.
l have attained the foregoing objects and results by means of the structure illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Fig. 1 is a schematic detail partially in section of the divers elements of my invention excepting the target Shown in elevation and in operative relation.
Fig. 2 is a section on line 2-2 of Fig. 1, the portions above this line being removed for clearness.
Fig. 3 is a perspective of the rocker shaft and the instrumentalities attached thereto.
Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram of the circuit involved in the operation of the present instrumentalities and its relation to the alarm circuit of a general supervisory and alarm organization; and
Fig. 5 is a schematic end view of the movable, and stationary targets.

My device is preferably installed in a cabinet which has normally displayed a stationary target 10 as shown in Fig. 5, on which are insignia designating that the apparatus is in normal condition. eral flanges 11b from which extend radially arms 12 upon the ends of which is a target 13 adapted when the shaft 11 is rotated to fall in front of the target l0, and on this target 13 should be placed indicia indicating that the circuit is functioning to give an alarm and requires attention. The shaft 11 is yieldingly maintained so as to hold the target 13 in elevated position by a suitable spring 11C attached at one end to a stationary pin and at the other to the disc 11a. Mounted on the shaft 11 is a grooved pulley 14 to which is secured and about which wraps, when the target is in elevated position, a ball or other suitable chain 15, which passes over a pulley 16 and descends into a tube 18 in the lower end of which it is secured by a split washer 19 of about the diameter of the tube 18 and of suflicient diameter to prevent its being erawn therein.
About the tube 18 is swetted or otherwise suitably secured a collar 2() of suflicient thickness to form the lower abutment or stop for a coiled '.Xpansion spring 21. The tube 18, collar 2O and spring 21 are mounted in an exterior tube 22 with a flanged top at 23 serving as the top abutment of the expansion spring 21 and a flanged bottom 24 serving as a stop for the collar 20. Pinned to the portion of the lower end of the tube 18 which extends below the tube 22 is an annular head or collar This collar 25 is flanged laterally at the top, as at 26, and its side below the top is slightly angled away from the axis of these parts for a purpose to be hereafter described.
Pivoted 'in a base plate 27 disposed at right angles to and below the above described parts, is a plate 28 to the top of which is pivoted or hinged at 29 an upper plate 30. The top of the plate 30 abuts the flange 26 of the head 25 and the angle of the vertical portion of the head 25 is such that the lower pivotal connection of the plate 28 and the hinge 29 are sufficiently on or near center to support the head 25 and tube 18 in elevated position against the downward thrust of the spring 2l. The angling of the side of the head 25 is for the purpose of determining the direction in which the plates 28 and 30 will fold together and also to nialie their support et the heat 2:3 sensitive to a capsizingj intluence.

It will also be seen that this restoration cannot be accomplished until the general alarm circuit has been cleared because if this circuit had not been cleared the solenoid 3l would again be energized and the sequence of activities heretofore described Would again occur.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A signal and recording device compris ing a spring pressed plunger, a pivoted element for holding said plunger in retracted position, a rocker shaft, an element carried thereby for releasing said holding means from said plunger, a second plunger for restoringl said spring pressed plunger and holding means to mitral relation, a latch for said restorer plunger carried by said rocker, a recording arm actuated by said restorer plunger, a solenoid, a movable plunger therefor, a plate carried by said rocker arm extending into eo-active relation with the plunger of said solenoid and a switch operated by said restorer plunger to open the circuit of said solenoid When the same is in unlatched position.
2. A signal and recording device comprising a pivoted stylus carrying arm, a restorer plunger and means carried thereby for actuating said arm, a double pivoted link support, a spring pressed plunger held in retracted position by said support, a trigger for capsizing said support, a latch for holding said restorer plunger in impressed position, a rocker arm to which said trigger and latch are secured, a plate carried by said rocker arm, a solenoid and a plunger operated by said solenoid for engaging said plate.
3. A signal and recording device comprising a spring pressed plunger, capsizable means for supporting said plunger in a retracted position, means for restoring said capsizable means to supporting position, recording means operable by said restorer, a rocker arm, means for capsizing said capiszable means and means for latching said re storer carried by said rocker shaft, a solenoid and a plunger operated thereby, and means carried by said rocker arm and extending into co-active relation With said last mentioned plunger.
4. A signal and recording device comprising a spring pressed plunger, capsizable means for supporting said plunger in a retracted position, means for restoring said capsizable means to supporting position, recording means operable by said restorer, a rocker arm, means for capsizing said capsizable means and means for latching said restorer carried by said rocker shaft, a solenoid and a plunger operated thereby, means carried by said rocker arm and extending into co-active relation With said last mentioned lunger and a three bladed switch operated y the movement of said restorer to close contact alternately between the center and the eX- terior blades.
5. In a signal and recording device comprising recording means and restorer means, a spring pressed plunger and supporting means, a motor comprising a spring pressed plunger, means for holding said motor in retracted position comprising a plurality of pivoted links which fold or collapse When said pivots are olf center.
6. A signal and recording device comprising a spring actuated motor member, a collapsible element for holding said motor member in set position, a restorer, recording means, electrical means for capsizing said collapsible element, local alarm element, and means operated by the restorer for alternately closing the circuits of said electrical elements.
7. In a signal and recording device a spring actuated motor element, a capsizable element for holding said motor element in set posi-- tion, electrical means for capsizing said collapsible element, a ixed target, a target pivoted to rotate in front of said fixed target, and means operable by said motor element for causing such rotation.
8. In a signal and recording device a latched motor element, electrical means for unlatching said motor element, a circuit including said last mentioned means, and a local alarm circuit, and means actuated by the mechanical movement of said device to open one and close the other of said circuits.
9. In a signal and recording device a reciprocating spring actuated motor element, collapsible means for maintaining said motor element in set position, electrically operated means for capsizing said collapsible element, and means for restoring said motor element and collapsible element to set position.
10. In a signal and recording device a reciprocating spring actuated motor element, collapsible means for maintaining said motor element in set position, electrically operated means for eapsizing said collapsible element, and means for restoring said motor element and collapsible element to set position and simultaneously closing the circuit of said electrical element.
