My present invention has reference to a concrete burial vault and my primary 0bject is the provision of a vault for this purpose in which the bottom is cast separate from the bodyV and is of such construction that, when arranged in the ground the same will have a locking engagement with said surface, regardless of the soft-ness'or irregularities thereof and further wherein the coengagernent between the body and the bottom is such that the body will not inflictv undue` strain against the bottom regardless of the condition of the ground in which the vault is arranged so that liability of injury to either the bottom or the body will be .ef,

A further object is the provision of a vault for this purpose that shall -be of reinforced concrete and of a type and constructionto eectively preserve the casket arranged therein.

the numeral 1 designates the base or bottom of the vault. The base is formed of a slab of concrete or llike plastic material which is reinforced, as at 2. The lowersides and edges of the body 7 are formed with outwardly extending por-V tionsll and the outer faces of these projected portions are covered by metal plates 12 whose flanged edges 13 are let in the said part 11 of the body. The base, of course, is lirst received in the grave and rests on the bottom thereof. The earth surface in the bottom of the grave will be received inthe depression 3 and will contact with the shoulder 5 and be likewise con- 75 tacted by the continuous projection 4. After the casket is arranged on the base the body is lowered there'over. If desired a suitable sealing cement may be arranged between the confronting edges of the base and the body. Having described the inventi0n,`I claim:
A reinforced plastic burial vault, including a base and a body to be arranged over to cover and'to enclose the base, said base comlo l prising a slab having its outer face depressed to form the same with a continuous rib at the outer Corners thereof and the inner edges at the corners of the base struck at an angle, ,the body having its inner face and its lower edges formed with a continuous depression and the upper wall provided thereby being arranged at an angle to Contact with the angle corneredges of the base slab when the body is arranged over the base slab, said body being thickened outwardly around the depressed portion thereof, and one ofthe reinforcements of the body being extended transversely below theouter edge of the y. thickened portion.
