. The invention relates to gaskets and particularly to adjustable gaskets. I It is anobject ofth'e inventionto provide a gasket holder comprising a pluralityof 5 sections whichhmaybe relatively adjusted, to change the spaced relation of gaskets carried in said holder. 1. It is another object of the invention to so construct aholder, that considerable longitudinal adjustment of the spacing of gaskets in the holder may be accomplished through adjustment of sections of the gasket holder, and that a slight angular adjustment of the gaskets relativeto each other may be accom- In general the objects are to construct means for adjusting gasketsflrelative tothe port'holes with which "they are to be associateCL'byJneans of a holder arranged for lonso gitudinal and simultaneous angular adjustmentor either. or both adjustments, saidhold er preferably comprising a plurality of interlocking sections. j a r W'iththe foregoing and other objectsin view which may appear as the description proceeds, the inveutionresides in'the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes so in the precise embodiment herein described, may be made withinthe scope of 'what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention;

Figure 2 is 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective view 7 showing one of the companion sections and j its complemental interlocking element.

Figure 7 isa modified form of the-inventlon.
3 Figure'8 is aside elevation invention shown in Fig. 7. i i i i i Figure 9s a section'throug'h the gasket and holder showing a typical form or; gasket in place in the holder... 1 7 a The gasket holder compriseslendfsections l1 and 12, and a central section 13, each section being provided with an opening l l adapted to'receive a gasket 29; Although three sec-v tions are shown-itisobvious thatanyTnuin ber of sectiona -more thanone,"may be. used without departingzfrom the invention. The central section 13 is" formed on each end with a projecting ear 21 extendingllongitudie nally therefro ma Preferably these ears are located at one side of the section 13, thereby leaving vertical edges 18* at the other side set of the form of back' from theends of the ears. l i i Each ear 21, is provided with a plurality of parallel longitudinal slots'22. ,Each of the end sections 11- and 12" is out out at one endi-to pr'o'vide'a projectingieari15, adapted'to overlap one of the'ears 21. V 1: i
Preferably the car 15 is located at one side of its section to: leave avertical, edge*:18- op-f posed toand normally spaced from one of the edges 18?. Portions of each ear 15, are struckout to form parallel longitudinal interlocking members or tongues17, which are spaced to register With the slots 22, and extend there through. 1
The ends of the members 1'1 "are bentoutwardly substantially at; righnangle's, to overlie the ears 21 so asto hold the sections 1 1, 12 and'13 in assembled relation; P i I Y so as to permit-relativehorizontal adjustment of the -sections, ;and are wider than-the memhere so as to permit simultaneous or independ-; ent relative, angular adjustment" of said sec Formed -o'n each verti'caL-Tedge 18"is a 10.0 i
19 which initially is bent outwardly substantially at right angles to its section. A lip 23,.
similar to the lip 19, is formed on each vertical edge 18, and initially is also bent at right angles tothe section 13. The lips 19 and 23,- of the'companion sections are located in opposed relation, and are adapted to be bent downwardly, as shown in Fig. '1, to embrace the bolts 20 extending from the cylina der block 30,.a-fter the gaskets are in place,
so as to prevent displacement of the gaskets relative to the ports.
cept that theouter edges 24 and 25 instead of the-"interior portions'of the ears :15" are bent overto form the interlocking members corresponding to the interlocking member 17 shown in Fig. 3.
In the gasket. illustrated in Figures 7 and 8, the holder is show-navith transverse cor rugations 26zwhich may be expanded or contracted tofbring the gaskets into registry with ports in the cylinder block in which they are I intended to fit. i
' The gaskets for theholder may be of any construction, but as illustratedin Fig. 9, a preferred form well known inthe art is illustrated. This form comprises an inner sleeve 27* having an external peripheral flange 28 and an outer sleeve 29i'having anexternal peripheral flange 31,said sleeves being arranged to tele'scope'each other-and to lock .the flanges 31 and'28v over the holder 32 with a' refractory element therebetween.
