This invention relates to new and useful improvements in an 011 saver.

One object of the invention is to provide a The reduced lower end of the casing head device of the character described specially designed to be used in connection with a cable tooLdrilling rig to prevent the escape and lossiof oil from the well. v
Another object of the invention is to provide an oil saver through which the drilling line works and which has a swiveling connection with the upper end of the well pipe or casing to the end that it will notbe injured, bent, or distorted by the lateral swinging of the line as it is reciprocated by the walking 1 beam through which it is operated.
A further feature of the invention is to provide a device of the character described through which the drilling line works and which forms a close fit'witli said line and with $0 the well casing so as to prevent the escape of oilliup through said -oil saver and from the we A. still further feature of the invention resides in the provision of a device of the'character described which is of simple construction, may be cheaply and easily produced and readily applied to or detached from the well casing and drilling line.
With the above and other objects in view this invention has particular relation to certainnovel features of construction, operation and arrangement of parts an example of which is given in this specification and illus- 5 trated in the accompanying drawings, where- Figure 1 shows a vertical sectional view of the device and associated parts,

Referring now more particularly to the at drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures the numeral 1 designates the well casing which is set in the Well bore, and the numeral 2 designates a casing head which is reduced W at its lower end, formingthe inside annular is screwed on to the upper end of the casing 1.
' Within the casing head there is a body formed of the upper and lower sections 5 and 6, separably secured together by the stud bolts 7 whose lower ends are screwedinto the lower section 6 and which extend'up through the upper section 5 and whose upper ends are threaded to receive the nuts 8. A suitable gasket 9 is interposed betweenthe sections 5 and 6. V
The facing sides of the sections of said body have the concaved recesses 10 and 11 which register to form a spherical seat having the annular gaskets 12, 13, preferably of brass, seated in the respective sections-'5 and 6, their inner surfaces conforming to the contour of and flush with said spherical seat. There is a tubular cylinder 14, preferably 9 formed of steel andhaving its mid portion formed into a ball joint member 15 which works in the spherical bearing formed between the sections 5 and 6; The lower end of this cylinder has an internal annular shoulder 16 against which the lower end of the cast iron, sectional cylinder liner 17, abuts. Threaded onto the upper end of the cylinder 17 and abutting the upper end of said liner there is'a flanged nut 18. The lower section 6, of the body, has an annular rib 19, which works in the groove 4 of the casing head.
There is a tubular steel plunger 20 which works through liner 17 and has a ground joint fit therewith and this plunger extends down beneath the cylinder and works closely through and extends above the nut 18. Attached to the upper end of the plunger 20 there is a stufiing box 21 includ ing the packing 22 held in the stufiing box by means of the gland 23, which is adjustably secured in place by 'means of the adjusting bolts 2%. The operating cable 25 works through the plunger 20 and is closely surrounded by the stuffingbox packing 22 and which also works snugly through the flanged nut 26, which is threaded onto the lower end of the plunger.

By the operation of said shaft 29 the clamp jaws may be secured around or released from the line 25.
