This invention relates to anew and useful improvement in metal tiles more especially intended for use in the construction of walls and ceilings 'but adapted for other-uses, and
which are made of sheet metal plates shaped to imitate' in appearance solid tiles. One vobject of the invention iste provide metallic tilesrof the character described of simple construction, and which may be easily and accurately laid in proper alinement and interengaging arrangement and v kso constructed that they are reversible end for'end. The invention/will be more fully understood from'the following description when taken in connection wit-h the accompanying Y drawings and the novel features thereof will be pointed out and clearly defined in the claims at the close of this specification.

Eachtile is made of aflat piece of lsheet metal cut out to the proper contour as shown in Fig. 7 having a, mainfbody portion 10, two'fside flange portions 11, 12,I twov end ' liange portions 13, 14 vand two nailing tab portions15,-16. Each of the tabs'is formed with a nailing hole 17. The twoV tab portions 15, 16'are offset from each other, onebeing shown in Fig. 6, and the tab members 15, 16
are bent at right angles tothe end flange portions 13, 14'. y

A sheet metal tile having a body portion and a ange at each of two opposite kends thereof extending at right angles to the plane of the body of the tile,V each of said flanges having a recess in its edge intermediate the ends of said flange whereby said flange has two end portions of greater width than said intermediate portion, a tab projecting from each of said ianges intermediate one of said wider portions and said narrower portion of the flange, and extending in a plane parallel with said body portion, said tabs being offset from each other so that oneof them is nearer one side edge and the other tab is oorrespondingly nearer to the opposite side edge whereby in setting up a plurality of tiles to form a facing either end of the tile is adapted to interlock with either end of the adjacent tile in the same course.
