Description

July 1, 1930. RU H r 1,769,190
I FLOWER STAND Filed 001:. 6, 192a Patented July 1, 1930' males UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE JOHN F. RUSH, or INDIAQN'YAPOLIS, INDIANA FLOWER strewn Application filed October 6,1928. Serial No. 310,817.
An additional object of the invention is T to provide a device of this kind which, when in use, is adapted to be placed adjacent to the casket eitherwithin the home or church in order to provide an effective display of the floral pieces.
The invention consists in the details 0 construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts'of my improved flower stand whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a flower stand constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;
Figure 2 is a fragmentary vertical sectional View taken through a side marginal portion of the stand as herein employed;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view in top plan of a corner portion of the stand as herein disclosed.
My improved stand, as herein disclosed, comprises a table section T consisting of a frame 1 of desired configuration and dimensions and which supports a grid-like structure 2, the cross members of which being so engaged from above with the frame 1 and soldered'or otherwise fixedly secured thereto.
Each end member 3 of the table T has disposed therealong from above and soldered or otherwise fixedly secured thereto a-bar or rod 4, said rod extending a desired distance beyond each. side of the'frame 1 and continued by the inwardly disposed arms 5. These arms 5 provide handles whereby the table may be readily transported and particularly when it is desiredto convey the floral pieces thereon from one location to another.
Inthe present embodiment of my invention, each of the end members 3 has pivotally engaged therewith the supporting legs 6 of desired length, the pair of legs 6 at each end of the table being tied or connected for unitary swinging movement by a cross member 7.
The outward swinging movement of each pair o-f legs 6 is limited by a chain 8 or kindred flexible member having one end portion anchored, as at 9, to the central part of the cross member 7 and its opposite end portion connected, as at 10, to one of the longitudinal members 11 comprised in the grid structure and more particularly the central member 11.
When not in use the legs 6 maybe readily swung up in close proximity to the table T and are also adjusted into such position when .it is desired to carry the table with its load from one location to another.
Each side member of the frame 1 also has operatively engaged therewith a plate 12 upon which may be suitably produced the name of the undertaker or other notice desired.
Each ofthe side members of the frame also has hingedly connected thereto a side member 14 which, when in its lifted or raised position, provides means against which baskets of flowers or certain types of set pieces may bereadily positioned, and the upward swinging movement of this side 'member 14, as herein disclosed, is limited by a chain orkindred flexible member 15 coacting with each side member 14 and herein disclosed as suitably anchored to a cross member 2.
From the foregoing description it is thought 'to be obvious that a flower stand constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification Without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason Iv do not wish to be understood as limiting myself" to the precise arrangement and-formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as here inafter claimed.
I claim t 1. A flower stand comprising, in conibination, a wire table structure, foldable leg members carried by said table, guard members sW-ingingly carried by said table, and handle members mounted on the opposite ends of said table.
2. A flower stand comprising, in combination, a wire table structure, leg members carried by said table, said leg members being adapted to swing inwardly whereby to provide a compact folded structure, stop means adapted to hold the legs in upstanding position, guard members swingingly mounted in the sideportions of said table, and handles mounted on the opposite end portions of the table. v
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
JOHN F. RUSH.
