This invention relates to a combined player piano and phonograph, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby the phonograph will reproduce the Words of a song as the same is being played by the piano.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several 1o parts, to be hereinafter fully described, il-

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view or" a portion of a player piano, with the invention applied thereto. I

so In carrying out my invention, I place a strip 5 of celluloid or the like at one side edge of the record sheet and this strip contains the sound grooves for reproducing the words of the song recorded on the sheet 1.
A reproducer 6 is so supported from the piano that its stylus 7 will engage the grooves in the strip 5, the horn 8 of the phonograph having a portion depending throughan opening formed in the top of the piano and a tube 9 connects the horn with the reproducer 6.
A piece of hard rubber or the like, indicated at 10, is placed on the tracker 4 in such a position that that portion of the sheet 1 carrying the strip 5 will pass over the same so that this rubber piece acts as a cushion for the part ofthe record sheet being engaged by the stylusf Thus it will be seen that I have provided simple means whereby the words of a song being played by the piano will be reproduced by the phonograph.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is In combination with a player piano, a record sheet therefor having a strip attached to one of its side edges which contains sound grooves of the words of the song on the sheet, a phonograph having its horn supported on the top o1 the piano, with a projecting portion passing through a hole in the top, a tube depending from said portion and bent at right angles and a reproducer connected with the lower end of the tube and having its stylus engaging the groove and a cushion forming member placed on the tracker and arranged under that portion of the record sheet which carries the strip.
