Such tickets and labels-are used on merchandise to indicate style, size, price, etc. y

lOne object of the invention is to provide a simplehand machine for feeding the labels, string-tickets or pin-tickets to the printing position. The lever 19 in turn -isy connected by a link 22 to the hand lever 23v'hich is pivoted at 24 to a bracket 25 on the frameof the machine and is held in its raised position by a spring which tends to yieldingly hold the llever in its raised position as shown in Figl. ln order that the machine may print either with the lines of printing ruiming parallel extends through an opening in the head 33 and is attached in the present instance to the handle 26 by a screw which passes through f' the handle and into the shank 34. 35 is a locking pin arranged to enter either the hole 36 or the hole 37 in the chase-holder and is held in position by a spring 38. 39 is an inking-pad carried by a frame 40 which is mounted on the pivot 2O and connected by a link llfto the head 33 on the operating lever 23, so that when the lever is depressed to make an impression on a tag the inking-pad is withdrawn, and when the lever is released the inking-pad assumes a position directly under the type, inking the surface thereof.

The operation'is as follows;

If a gummed label strip is used, the same is mounted within the base and fed through the opening E2, passed around the wheel 3, through one of the slots 4, and un-der the presser-foot l1, where it is engaged by they pawl 10 and fed forward one label at `a time by the feed mechanism; an impression is made, and the label strip passes out of the end of the machine.

Vh'en a pin-ticket or a string ticket is to be printed, then the ticket vis fed through the slot 4b, Fig. -3,which is open at one end, and the pin or string extends into the space a3 between the fed-gey of the feed table and the plate 17. In this instance the pawl 15 enters the notches on one side of the tag strip only fand feeds the strip forwardy into the printing positionthe printing, in this instance, bein-g at right angles to that of a gummed label, consequently the platen will have been adjusted.

In some instances, instead of mounting the cha-'se holder on a pivot, the chase holder 28? may have two ways, one at right angles to the other, so that the chase can be either located in one way or in the other way, which would be at right angles to the Yfirst-'mentior'red way, as lshown in Figs. 10, l1 andlQ. Y

We claim l. The `combination i-n a machine for printing tickets and labels, of a base; a feed table over which the vtickets or labels are fed; a pawl engaging `one strip o'f tickets; a narrow pawl for engaging one edge `of another strip of tickets; and mechanism for printing the tickets or labels.

2. The combination in a machine for Y printing tickets and labels, of a base; a feed table over which the tickets or labels `are n fed; a wide pawl engaging one strip of tickets; a narrow pawl 'for Vengagiifigone edge of another strip Lof tickets, said feed table having a 'channel at one side for the passage of pins or strings attached to the tickets; and mechanism for vprinting the tickets or labels.

The combination in a machine for printing tickets and labels, of a base; a feed table having two longitudinal grooves therein; a presser-foot mounted above the table; a reciprocating pawl having iingers extending into the grooves andarranged to enter notches at each side of the ticket or label; a narrow pawl at one side of the` Y printing the tickets or labels.

The combination in mechanism for printing tickets or labels,r of a base; a feed table; a platen at one end of the feed table; a guide block at the other end of the feed table, said lguide block having slots through which the tickets or labels pass, said slots being of different widths andl one of 'the slots being open at one side; a yplate at one side of the feed table spaced therefrom to form a channel for the Apassage of pins or strings attached to the tickets; mechanism for feeding the tickets vforwardrnie at a time; land printing mechanism for making jan impression on the tickets as they are Vfed -to a position over the platen.
