My invention relates to an attachment for electric plugsand more particularly to a device for protecting the cords of electric plugs; and the object is to provide a simple device which can be readily mounted on a plug and readily detached therefrom and which will afford a means for removing a plug from a socket without pulling on the cord which carries the plug and so protecting the cord and plug, and to provide an article of manufacture which can be applied to any plug of ordinary structure and which is provided with means for retaining the attachment on the plug. Other objects and fully explained in the following description and the invention will be more particularly pointed out in the claims.

Reference is had to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application.

Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same parts throughout the several views.

The attachment herein set forth is to be made of some non-conducting material, as fibre, asbestos, rubber, or rubberized fabric. The material may be cut in the form of a blank and then pressed or formed to conform to the contour of the plug to which it is to be applied. Slots 2 are formed-in the body 1 for the contact members 3 of the plug. The body has a flat portion 4 for engaging the end of the plug. The parts which form the sides 5 are curved to engage the body of the plug. The attachment may be provided with cordengaging members 6 and 7 which are curved to engage the cord 8. The exterior of the members 5 are corrugated at 12' to make the attachment more easily removed. The handle member 7 may be provided with tabs 13 for securing the handle members on y the cord 8. The tabs 13 may be provided with spring clamping devices 14 for securing the handle member 6. The plug may be removed from its socket by pulling on the handle members 6 and 7 without in juring or damaging the cord 8. 7

Figs. 4 and 5 show a variation in the form of the attachment. A blank 15 is shown provided with the slots 2 and corrugations 16 for making-the attachment readily grasped by the hand for removal of the plug from It its socket. This form of attachment is made with slots 17 in the retaining members 18.

In either form of the attachment, the end members '5 or the end members 18 may be sprung open and the attachment placed on the plug with the contacts 3 entering the slots 2. V

What I claim, is,

1. An attachment for electric plugs comprising a body of resilient non-conducting material having a flat member engaging the end of the plug and provided with slots to L11 receive the contact members of the plug and having securing members curved to conform to the contour of the plug and enclosing same and having securing members engaging and enclosing a portion of cord of the plug.

2. An attachment for electric plugs comprising a body of resilient non-conducting material having a flat member and two integral extensions forming a cup-shaped body and having slots in the flat member for the contact members of the plug and having parts of the exterior corrugated and having an interior groove to receive a rib of the plug and having securing members curved to conform to the contour of the exterior of cord 8 is received in the slots 17. #1

3. An attachment for electric plugs comprising a fiat body member slotted to receive the contacts of the plug and having integral curved members forming a cup-shaped body 7 of resilient nonconducting material and having the terminals of the body curved to conform to the exterior curvature of the plug and having the terminals of the body curved and adapted to engage the cord of the plug, said body and itsterminals being adapted to be sprung on said plug and to be clamped about said cord.

4;. An attachment for electric plugs comprising a slotted fiat body engaging the end of the plug and side members integral there with and curved and adapted to enclose and to form a protector for the plug and integral handles for enclosing a portion of the cord of the plug, all adapted to be sprung on the plug and cord.

5. An attachment for electric plugs comprising a single piece of resilient non-conducting material having a flat member for engaging the end at a plug and its contacts, integral side members curved to enclose the body of the plrg, and integral extensions curved t0 enclose a portion of the cord of the plug, all adapted to be sprung on the plug and cord.
