The object of this invention is to provide' a false-bottom which, after the goods have been partly removed from the box, may be readily raised to bring the bottomk layer or layers of goods upto the ytop edge ,of the box, to thus more desirably display the goods than would be the case if the articles were` Fig. 3 is a view `similar to Fig. 2 showing y the false-bottom raised-to bringv the bottomI layers of articles tothetop of the tray or carton;

I pack my false-bottom which is constructed as follows: I take'a sheet of paper-board and cut a blank having a bottom-board 12. provided at each longitudinal edge with a folding supporting-.flange 13 and at each end with a folding supporting-flange 14, each of these end-flanges 14 being provided with a tab 15. Before the goods are placed in the box, the false-bottom is folded up and placed in the bottom of the box Vin the manner shown in Fig. 2, i. e., with its end-flanges 14 folded up against thebottom of the part 12, its side-flanges 13 folded lup against the thus-folded parts 14, with the tabs 15 folded against the under faces ofthe members 13 and having their tapered ends extended upwardly to lie either folded down on the upper face of the membe'r 12 or, as shown in dotted lines at therightlhand end of Fig. 2,

elements in the combinations and relationsl described, some of these may be altered and others omitted and some of the features of each modification may be embodied in the others without interfering with the lmore general results outlined, and the invention extends to such use. f

Vhat I claim as new is: Y I

1.` A false-bottom for display boxesembodying a false-bottom proper havingV an under-folding, supporting end-flange at each` end, an under-folding, supporting sideflange at each of its longitudinal edges, and a 4Vfolding tab attached to the free edge of each one of said end-flanges and adapted tol extend to a point above the false-bottoni proper, for the purpose set forth.

In a display box, a false-bottoln constructed of a single blank eut to foi-1n a false- 4bottom proper adapted to lit Within the display boX and lie under the goods packed therein, two side-flanges foldablyconnectedV with the longitudinal `edges of said -alsebottom proper, two end-flanges foldably con- Y nected to the end edges of said false-bottoni proper, and a tab foldably connected to the y free edge of each one of said end-flanges and adapted to extend to a point above the false-bottoni proper, for the purpose set forth. y y

3. In a display box, a false-bottoni provided Witli Jfolding flanges at its edges adapted to fold up against the under Vside of said false-bottoni proper when the saine is placed inthe bottom of the display box, and means attached to an opposite pair of said flanges whereby the false-bottoni may be raisedwitliinthe display box and all of said flanges simultaneously unfolded to an upright position to forni supports for said false-bottoni in its raised position.
