f The present invention relates to holders for keys or the like, in which a case or pouch is provided with means for supporting keys or other objects for individualuse. It is old to provide such device, whether or not the case or pouch is composed of yielding, or flexible, lor firm unyielding material, but usually such devices have to be opened out, more or less like a book. d One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a4 ouch, preferably of exible material whic may be bent without damage to the parts of the pouch, and which is provided with a slide guided on the pouch, to or from an opening in the pouch through which the objects supported by the slide may be protruded or retracted. Further objects are to provide a convenient, economical and thoroughly practical pouch of flexible material wherein the slide operates the mutually engaging-members of a hookless fastening, which type of device is preferably employed, if and when the pouch is of such material.

These being among the objects of the present invention, the same consists of certain features of construction and combinations of parts to be hereinafter described and then claimed with reference to the accompanying drawings illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention in which:

The pouch' or receptacle 10 is preferably composed of flexible material such as leather, the body of the pouch being 4preferably formed Vfrom a suitable strip of such material which is folded transversely to form an enclosure .and which pouch is closed at one end by a folded strip 11 which is secured by a line of stitches 12 or the like to the pouch. pouch is provided with a flexible tab 14 which may be bent across the mouth, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, to close it, and which is provided with a socket member 15 of a separable fastening which also includes a stud 16 secured to the opposite wall of the pouch.` A. rivet 17 connects one edge of the flexible tab 14 with the material of the pouch for the reason as will presently appear.

It is old in the art to provide means for @o retracting and projecting dierent articles or objects from a case or pouch by a sliding movement, but inasmuch as under the pres ent invention it is preferred that the material f of the pouch be flexible, such as leather, it is @5 desirable to provide a means for that purpose which will not get out vof order due to the flexibility of the material. With this end in view the pouch is provided with a longitudinal slot 18 which extends from an exten- 70 sion 19 of the strip of material from which the pouch is made, to a point adjacent the base of the flexible tab 14. The base of the tab is preferably formed by Aa lateral extension 20 from the strip from which the 75 pouch is made, such extension 20 defining the outer limit of the slot 18. In this connection it is preferred to make use of a hookless fastening device such as is commonly used in various arts for quickly opening and closing a slot, and to that end the tapes 21,

The slide 25 for opening and closing the hookless fastening device is provided with a finger piece or tab 26 for conveniently manipulating it and drawing it from one end to the 9o Slide 25 supports a transverse or carrier member 27 by means of a neck 28, which is directed inwardly into the pouch so as to support the member 27 within the pouch. It will be seen that whenever the 95 slide 25 is operated, the transverse member 27 is carried along with it. This transverse member 27 supports a suitable number of hooks or other supporting members 29for keys 30 or any other objects or articles which 100 it isdesired to store in the pouch or to project from the pouch for use.

f 1t will be seen that when the slide 25 is operated from the position shown in Fig.. 1 to the position shown in Fig. 2, that the keys 30 or the like are projected from the pouch fory use individually. rlhis is accomplished by the comparatively simple and cheap construction described and shown as the'preferred embodiment of the invention and it is obvious that when a pouch of the character under consideration is provided with longitudinal guiding means, such as described and shown, that the flexible nature of the material will not cause the sliding means to become inoperative, which would probably be the case unless the guiding means such as the hookless fastening device is made flexible so as to bend whenever the pouch itself, is exed or bent.

associated with the operating tab 26 avoids the danger of the operator grasping the pouch in one hand, in returning the keys, and thus tending to crush the pouch of flexible material onto the transverse bar' and keys and interferewith the return of the keys into the Furthermore, an important feature of the invention resides in the fact that although hookless fastening means are preferably employed'in association with the slide 25, such means or the equivalent are desirable where a sliding operation is used to return or eject the keys, the hookless fastening means acting, in conjunction with the slide, to positively hold the keys in their projected or `retracted position, so that such means are specially desirable in a pouch of leather or other such flexible material as the slide means or such fastening means are not apt to be damaged by the bending of the ouch.

Furthermore, the longitudinal slot in the4 pouch is such that when it is open and the keys projected, the thumb or finger of one hand when necessary may be inserted therein so as to securely hold the pouch'while the fingers of the other hand are free to pick out Aand securely take hold of the desired key for use. Furthermore, the longslot in the pouch being in the flexible material, enables the pouch to be opened out throughout for the easy dislodgment of any foreign article which may have entered the pouch and which can not be readily dislodged through the end opening for the keys, as that is choked by the transverse bar when the keys are projected. Such a foreign article in the pouch would tend to interfere with the retraction of the keys into the pouch, but the .longitudinal slot forms a convenient exit for such article when the slot is open.

It is obvious that the invention is susceptible to more or less modification, as will be apparent to those skilled in the art, without.

departing from the invention as expressed by the scope of the appended claims.

What l claim as new, is:

1. A key holder or the like, comprising a pouch having an opening, a slide guided on the pouch, to or from the opening, a transverse member carried by the slide, within the pouch, supporting devices for separately hanging keys or the like from the transverse member, the slide withdrawing them from or returning them into the pouch, and means directly associated with the slide for maintaining it and the supporting devices in their innermost and outermost positions.

2. A key holder or the like, comprising a pouch of flexible material having an opening, the pouch also having a slot extending toward the opening, flexible means for closing the slot and bendable by the pouch Without being rendered inoperative, a slide for opening or closing the flexible means at will, and movable to or from the opening, a transverse member carried within the pouch by the slide, and-supporting devices for separately hanging keys or the like from the transverse member, the slide withdrawing them from or returning them into the pouch. j

3. A key holder or the like, comprising a pouch of flexible material having an openmg, Y

the pouch also having a slot extending toward the opening, a length of mutually engageable hookless fastenings extending the length of the slot and secured to the pouch, a slide for operating the hookless fastenings, and movable to or from the opening, a transverse member carried within the pouch by the slide, and supporting devices for separately hanging keys or the like from the transverse member, the slide withdrawing therefrom or returning them into the pouch, the slide and hookless fastening constituting -means for maintaining the transverse member and supporting devices in their innermost and outermost positions. 4

4. A key holder or the like, comprising a pouch of lexible material having an opening, the pouch also having a slot extending toward the opening, flexible means for closing the slot and bendable bythe pouch Without being rendered inoperative, a slide for opening or closing the flexible means at Will, and movable to or from the opening, a transverse member carried Within the pouch by the slide, supporting devices for separately hanging keys or the like from the transverse member, the slide withdrawing them from or returning them into the pouch, means directly associated with the slide for maintaining it and the supporting devices in their innermost and outermost positions, a tab secured to the pouch at the outer end of the slot, and fastening means for securing the tab to the pouch to close the opening.

5. A key holder or the like, comprising a pouch having an opening, a slide guided on the pouch, to `or from the opening, a tab on the slide, a tab at the opening, both tabs being closed together when the slide is nearest said opening, a transverse member carried by the slide, Within the pouch, and supporting devices for separately hanging keys or the like from the transverse member, the slide withdrawing them from or returning them into the pouch. f
