|MPRovEMENT IN NEcK-voKEs.
I Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. l 76,076, dated April 11, 1876; application tiled i January 7, 1876.
4 ence heilig had to theaccompanying drawings and t0 the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
- My inveention relates to neck-yokes; and it consists in the construction of the pole-ring, and the connection between said ring and neck-yoke, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In orderto ena-ble others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a neck-yoke embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a crosssection ofthe same on the line w m, Fig. 1.
A represents an ordinary neck yoke, and B is the pole-ring` connected thereto. The pole ring B is formed of two, three, or more pieces ot' leather sewed together tlrlnly in the usual manner.
Around the center of the neclryoke A is passed a leather piece C, and around the outside thereof is passed a sheet-metal plate, D. The pole-ring B is inserted between the ends of the leather C, and said leather ring and metal plate are rmly united together by bolts, rivets, or other equivalent means. Two very important advantages are gained by this construction: First, the leather C heilig nearest the neck-yoke the metal hand will not wear itas it does when it is directly in contact with the wood; second, the leather C being separate from the pieces composing the pole-ring scraps or small pieces of leather that would otherwise be thrown away may be used, thus effecting a great saving in the cost of manufacture.
I am fully aware that a neck-yoke in which a metal clip is used next to the wood, and provided with ears to which theleather is connected, is not new.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Iatent, is-
The combination, with a neck-yoke A, of the separate leather band C placed adjacent to the wood, the metallic Vband D covering said leather hand, and the pole-ring B, composed of short strips of leather, and united between the ends ofthe leather C and metallic band D, substantially as shown and described.
, In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 17th day ot' December, 1875. Y
