i This invention relates to lighting fixtures and more particularly to the provision of convenience outlets in thewall typesof lighting fixtures.
It is a general object of the present invention to provide a novelandimproved form of lighting fixture.

In applicants copending Serial No. 93,800, there is disclosed a lighting fixture in the form of a wall bracket preferably formed entirely of porcelain or other suitable modable insulating material in which there is an entire absence of exposed metal parts. Such a fixture isshownat 10 n Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing and or ring 13 having a central vertical passage 14 therethru from top to bottom. A passage 15 leads fromthe opening 1 1: to the backof 1 the canopy to carry circuit wires.
In Flgure 2 is shown a umtary assembly adapted to be fitted into the opening 14 from V the bottom and to be retained in position by a suitable ring 16 of material similar to that of which the main; portion of thefixtureis formed. Such a ring may take the form shown in Figure 1 adapted to receive asphrical type of lamp or it may take the form of a shade holder adapted to receive and hold in position a suitable glass-ware shade. ring 16 is retained in position and itself retains the assembly in positioninthe sleeve 18 by having its interior threaded as at 17 to fit upon the exterior threads 18 of'themetal screw shell 19 forming a part of the lamp receptacle. The bottom 20 of the ring 16 is flat and fits upon the flat surface-21 at the top of the sleeve 13 and is of substantially the same diameter for the sake of appearance.
The screw shell 19 is of the conventional form with the cutouts 22 and the inturned the headof the screw 32 which rests onthe portion 30, passes thru a hole in the button and engages the portion 33 of the L- application,
Such shaped terminal member 3%, the portion 33 a of which fits in a recess 35 to prevent the same from rotating during and after assembly. The depending portion 36 of this terminal member is provided with the terminal screw 37.
Depending from the insulating button are the two straps 38 and 39 of conducting material each of which has a right angled portion at each end. The upper right angled portions are recessedinto the button as shown in Figure 2 and vthat on 38 is secured in termediate its ends with a contact ternnnal position by a screw 40 passing thru the button and out of contact with all of the receptacle parts. The right angled portion on 39 is attached to the button by means of a screw 41 passing thru the arcuate plate 28 which is in contact with the screw shell so that the plate 28 and strap 39 are in electrical contlact with each other and with the screw shel The right angled ends at the bottoms of the straps 38 and 39 fit into suitable recesses in the insulating disk 42 which is of a size to fit within the counterbore 43 in the bottom of the sleeve 13. A suitable projection 45 preferably molded integral with the disk 42 fits into a slot 46 to properly position the assembly in the sleeve. The disk is provided with the spaced,'parallel, rectangular passages 47 therethruto receive the blades of the conventional form of attachment plug. The bottom of each strap 38 and 39 is in electrical contact with and mechanically supports one of the plug blade engaging spring contacts 48. These contact springs are formed of suitable spring metal bent to the form best shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 so that one end of each may be engaged beneath the right angled bottom of one of the straps 38 or 39 and the side will be presented substantially parallel to the inner wall of one of the slots 47 and will partially overlap this slot to be pressed into spring engagement with the inner face of one of the blades of a contact lug which may be inserted thru the slots. uitable projections 49 may be pressed out ,from the contact springs to assist in retaining the plug blades in position where such blades are provided, as is usual, with holes therethru.
Each of the straps 38 and 39 is provided inserew 51, 52 adjacent which projeetions'53 may be pressed outof the metal of the straps to assist in retaining the terminal wires in position.
It will be noted that the strap 38 is in electrical engagement with only one of the convenience outlets, terminal springs while the strap 39 is in engagement both with the screw shell of the receptacleand with the other one of the convenience outlet springs. The center contact of the socket has its inclependent terminal. The device is intended to be wired by pulling the wires thru the hole 15 and attaching them to the three terminal screws before the assembly is placed in the ring 13. After wiring it is put into position and fastened by threading the ring 16 inplace as shown in Figure 1. By providing three terminals the lamp may be lighted by means of a wall switch and the convenience outlet may always be connected to live conductors which are not affected by the condition of the lamp. A suitable three wire cable may be used for wiring the device.
In case it is desirable to have the switch directly on the receptacle where no wall switches are provided, a suitable arrangement is suggested in Figure 4. Here a pull chain type of switch is arranged between the two straps leading from the receptacle to the convenience outlet disk. In order to provide the additional room necessary it is preferable that the disk 55 be of a diameter equivalent to the outside diameter of the ring 13 and to be adapted to abut against the fiat bottom face thereof. The straps, only one 56 of which, appears in Figure 41, extend in the same manner between the button of the receptacle and the disk 55 but these straps are turned 180 from the position shown in Figure 2 so that a greater space is provided between them to receive the pair of spaced apart insulating members 57 between which is mounted the switch structure. This structure has not been illustrated in detail because it is of the conventional type. The chain quadrant 58 is supported on the spring adjusting screw 59 which passes from one of the insulating members to the other and which is accessible thru the hole 60 in the enlarged central portion 61 of the strap 56. The strap carries a convenient terminal (32 and is riveted at 63 to the insulating block 57 to hold it in position. The chain 6 1 passes over the chain quadrant and thru the in clined hole 65 in the disk 55 which brings it out to a position where it will readily clear the plug 66. Any suitable means may be arranged to prevent the assembly rotating in the sleeve 13. a
The disk 55 is provided with the slots 67 as in the previous form and carries the contact springs 68 mounted and positioned e21 actly as in the previous modification. In this construction the center contact of the socket is electrically connected to one of the straps by means of the switch structure and the screw shell is connected to the other strap. In this manner but two terminals are necessary and they can be served by a pair of live conductors.
The two forms of receptacle and outlet assemblies may be interchangeable in the fix;
ture bracket and may readily be made interchangeable with the type, disclosed in applicants prior application, previously men tioned.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
' 1. The combination with a supporting tube, of an assembly adapted to fit therein and comprising, a screw shell, an insulating button secured to said shell, an insulating disk; a pair of conducting straps securing said button and disk in spaced relation, attachment plug contact springs carried by said disk in electrical engagement with said straps disk adapted to close one end of said tube,
a pair ofspaced conductor straps securing said disk and button in spaced relation, terminals on said straps and attachment plug contact springs on said disk, one of said straps being in electrical engagement with one of said first mentioned contacts.

The combination with a supporting tube, of an assembly adapted to lit therein comprising, a screw shell contact and a center contact, an insulating button carrying said shell and center contact, an insulating disk adapted to closeone end of said tube, a pair of spaced conductor straps securing said disk and button in spaced relation, terminals on said straps, attachment plug contact springs on said disk, one of said straps being in electrical engagement with one of said first mentioned contacts and switch structure between said straps.
5. The combination with asupporting tube, of an assembly adapted to fit therein comprising, a, screw shell contact and a center contact, an insulating button carrying said shell and center contact, an insulating disk adapted to close one end of said tube, a pair of spaced conductorstraps securing said disk and button in spaced relation, terminals on said straps, attachment plug contact springs on saiddisk, one of said straps being in electrical engagement with one of said first mentioned contacts, switch structure between said straps and a chain adapted tov operate said switch, said chain passing thru said disk.
6. In an electric fixture, in combination, a canopy, a sleeve supported thereby having a passage therethru, with both ends exposed in front of said canopy, a disk of insulating material at one end of said sleeve, means to prevent the passage of said disk thru said sleeve, a screw shell contact in said sleeve having a portion projecting therefrom at the end opposite said disk, a ring threaded on said portion, attachment plug springs on the inner face of said disk and means attaching said disk to said screw shell.
7. In an electric fixture, in combination, a
canopy, a sleeve supported thereby having a passage therethru, a disk of insulating material at one end of said sleeve, means to prevent the passage of said disk thru said sleeve, a screw shell contact in said sleeve having a portion projecting therefrom at the end opposite said disk, a ring threaded on said portion, attachment plug springs on said disk, conductor straps attached to said disk and plug springs and one of said straps securing the disc to said screw shell and terminal connectors on said straps.
