Description

May 20, 1930. M. HOLLENWEG-ER WATER CLOSET PAN Filed Jun e 20, 1929 Patented May 20, 1930 'UNITED .STATES MAX HOLLENWEGER, or BONN, GERMANY WATER-CLOSET PAN :Application filed June 20, 1929, Serial No. 372,513, and. in Germany May 6, 19290 In order to prevent the stoppage at the entrance to the siphon-like discharging channel of a water closet pan this portion has hitherto been considerably narrowed and consequently the admission cross-section is narrower than the discharge cross-section. Such a formation of channel results in stoppage,
retards or hinders the carrying off of the solid matter like a shut-off valve. These constructions also possess the disadvantage that the quantity of water'necessary to obtain the suction effect cannot enter the dischar ing channel.
These objections are overcome according to the lnvention 1n that a chamber is provided in front of the entranceto the siphonlike discharging channel of a water closet pan, the feature of which fore chamber consists in that it is provided with an inlet and outlet slot, the inlet slot inthe fore chamber being perpendicular to the outlet slot.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by Way of example in the accompanying drawing in which: I
5 Fig. 1 shows; a longitudinal section through the water closet pan. 7
Fig. 2 is a cross-section on line 22 0 Fig. 1. v I I A fore chamber 0 of rectangular or other suitable cross-section, arranged between the pan 0 and the siphon channel 5,, serves for receiving the fecals. A slot 6, the dimensions of which are the same as the cross-section of the fore chamber extends through the bottom d and through the wall 70 of the chamber 0 but perpendicular to the chamber 0. The fore chamber serves as mouth of the siphon channel I). The siphon channel up to the second channel bend f is of'rectangular or other suitable cross-section same as the fore chamber 0 and the slot 6. Y
0nd bend f to the reduced portion 72..
In-order to better depict the whole of the discharge channel from the pan a to the discharge pipe ?I the dimensions are given below. The fore chamber 0 for example has a cross-section of about 100 x 55 mms., the slot 0 and the siphon channel 6 connected therewith have the same dimensions up to the sec chamber 0 only fecals up to mms. in disuch as are smaller than the diameter of the A connecting part 9 extends from the sec-' PATENT OFFICE 0nd bend f. The upright tapered portion 9- extending from the second bend 7 measures about 80 mms. at the top'and about 95 mms. at the bottom and the reduced portion is about 57 mms. in diameter. The discharge Bl pipe and the connecting part i have the standard diameter of 95 mms.
As the slot 6 is perpendicular to the fore ameter can pass into the channel 6 or only 60 reduced portion 72,. Consequently there is no danger of stoppage occurring in the discharge channel.
This construction enables the cross-section 5 at the entrance to be sufliciently large for the suction effect. 7 Y
I claim V A ater closet pan, comprising a fore chamber of rectangular cross-section arranged between the pan and the siphon channel and having a slot extending through the bottom and wall perpendicular to said fore chamberland of the same cross-section as said fore chamber.
Tn testimony whereof I afiix my signature. MAX HOLLENlVEGER. V
