The invention also includes the combina 2o tion and arrangement of parts and construction of the various ,details hereinafter described, illustrated in `the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out inthe claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Fig. l is a perspective of the device showing the end gate lowered for dumping to one side of the y truck and the other end of the gate closed to prevent the escape of material from that side ofthe truck; Fig. 2 is an Vend elevation of the device; Fig. 3 is a side elevation thereof and Fig. lis a perspective of one of the sliding guards.
In these views, A, is the body of the truck; B, the floor; C, the end gate which is hinged at D, adjacent to the end of the floor, and preferably slightly below the same, for the reason that will hereinafter appear; E, E, are outwardly inclined chutes formed in the ends of the gate, through which the material is selectively discharged, the discharge being 1927. SerialNo. 183,958.
chute. Chains II, when lowered.
@ne edge ofeach sliding guard plate when in usek is preferably inserted beneath the floor ofthe car at I thus permitting the material to shoot over the guard plate.
An ordinary delivery chute J is attached to the open end of the end gate to direct the material where desired.
Having described the invention what I I, support the end board Patent is v l. In a dump wagon, a hinged end gate having an integral side dumping chute at each side thereof and guard means detachably securable over the openingin each chute, said guard. means being slidingly movable over said opening. i
2. In a dump wagon, an end gate hinged at its lower edge to the floor of said wagon, 7'0 said gate being constructed to form laterally directed chutes, detachable plates covering the open ends of said chutes and sliding plates covering the open tops of said chutes.
In testimony whereof I aiiX my signature.
WILLIAM A.. MILLER.
, controlled by means of detachable slidingguards F, F, of angular shape, having end portions G, G, which cover the outer openings of the chutes when the gate is raised.
When the gate is lowered, the guard plate adjacent to that side from which the deliv-v ery is to vbe made is removed to permit the material to run out of the vcorrespon-ding
