My invention relates to the wall type of cabinet or one that is secured to'a vertical wall or upright support in distinction from a cabinet that stands upon the floor although the invention with suitable modifications may be embodied in the floor type of cabinet if desired.

The object of my present invention is to provide means whereby the support of the clean towel roll and the feed rolls may be drawn forward to a point partially outside of the enclosing cabinet to the end that the attendant may with greater ease and facility load or fill the cabinet, preparing it for delivery 0f the clean towel web.

A further object is to provide a cabinet of simple and inexpensive construction and one which will be simple of operation and strong and durable.

Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through a towel cabinet embodying my invention showing the parts in a position for delivery of the clean towel;

Figure 2 is a similar view showing the position assumed by the towel cabinet apparatus when the attendant is in the act of loading or filling the cabinet; and

Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 ofV Figure 1.

In the drawings, 2 represents the side walls of the cabinet; 3, the top thereof; 4, a hinged door which normally closes the open front of the cabinet, and 5 is a bottom plate between which and the supporting wall of the cabinet a gap or opening 6 is provided for convenience in stretching the web of clean towel upwardly to the soiled towel take up roll.

Within this cabinet a frame composed preferably of metallic side plates 7 is provided with a connecting brace element 8, also preferably of metal, this bracing plate having a curved portion extending between and separating the feed rolls and a downwardly and forwardly curved portion which forms a support for the clean towel 9. The frame is open at the front as indicated in the drawings so that when the door is open the attendant may easily and quickly insert the roll of clean projecting ledge or flange 10 with which the towel roll will contact to limit its forward movement. The plate 8 in the normal position of the frame vis adjacent the bottom 5 of the cabinet, the rear portion of the plate 8 forming a curved guide von which the web of soiled towel may slide as the cabinet is used. The upper rear portions of the plates 7 have ears 11 thereon and comparatively long links 12 connect these ears with pivot pins 13 which are mounted in the upper rear portions of the side walls of the cabinet. These links in the normal position of the cabinet depend vertically at the rear thereof but when the front door is opened and the frame pulled outwardly the links 12 will swing freely on their pivots and permit the frame to be drawn forward to a point partially outside the cabinet where the attendant can easily reach the mechanism to conveniently stretch the clean web to its usable position. The side plates 7 of the inner frame have bearings for the take up feed rolls 14 and 15. These rolls are preferably "of the same diameter and have peripheral surfaces adapted to adhere to the towel-web and preferably this clinging effect is obtained by sanding the surfaces of these rolls or by the use of a rubber surface of suitable form so that when one roll is driven through the clinging of the towel web thereto the other roll will be operated also through the driving connection 16 between them. The curved plate 8 as described extends between these feed rolls'so that there will be no danger of contact of their surfaces and contamination of the clean towel web. The plates 7 have diagonal slots 17 therein adapted to receive shaft of a pinch roll 18 which roll, when the shaft is placed in the slots, will slide down by gravity or other means therein to a point near the delivery feed roll 14 and when the web of clean towel is stretched upwardly from the roll over and around the pinch roll, the weight of the pinch roll will press this web against the roll '14 so that when the user pulls trolling 1 the operationofthe; delivery roll.

This, however, l make no claim to in this application. When the web of clean towel is stretched over the pinch roll it is-carricd downwardly through a gap 20 between the l., plate and the door of the cabinet and thence depends in aloose loop under the cabinet, the end of the web being carried upwardly and wrapped around a take up roll 21 that is mounted in guides 22 in the sidewalls ofthe towel cabinet. These guides have notches 23 adapted to receive the shaft of the take up roll 21 when it is not in use. A suitable tension roll 26 is providedin the rear of the frame operating. to make a slight bend in` the towel web-and press it against. the plate 8 and also has the function of smoothing out wrinkles or folds that may be in the towel web preparatory to its delivery to the take up roll. The position of the. guides -22 in the sidewalls of the cabinet is such that the take up roll 21 will be close to the take up feed roll and when the towel web is wound on the take up roll it Vwillcontact by gravity with the take up feed roll and be revolved y to wind up the soiled towel synchronously with the unwinding of the clean towel. Holes 24 are preferably provided in the plates 7 to receive a hook 25 that is mounted `in the yside wall ofthe cabinet and is adapted to support the swinging frame in its withdrawn position or atthe time when the attendant is using both hands in threading thev towel upwardly to the soiled towel ytake up roll. l

The operation of filling the cabinet is as follows: The attendant having opened the door of the cabinet and found the clean towel supply exhausted will reach in over the pivoted frame and withdrawthe loaded take up roll out through the guides 22 and remove th'etake up roll from the soiled towel roll. Then he will place the supply of clean towel in the pivoted frame andstretch the loose end-up over the pinch roll. He willthen draw the pivoted frame forwardly to av point where the hook ,25 will engage the eye or hole 24.' At that pointa considerablefgap or opening will be, provided in the rear. of

take up roll as indicated in Figure 2. This having been done, the pivoted frame will be released and allowed to swing back by gravity within the cabinet and the take up roll will then be inserted in the guides 22 and alsoto provide a loop of-suiiicient length bey low the towel cabinet.

I claim as my invention:

1. A towelgcabinet comprising a casing, a frame therein, comparatively long links pivotally connecting said frameV with said casing, saidlinks allowing said frame to be drawn forwardly to a position partially outside of said casing, to provide a gap or space in the rear of said casing, a soiled towel take up rollin the rearward upper portion of said casing delivery and take up feed rolls mounted in said frame, the deliveryv roll being mounted in front of the take up feed roll and having a driving connection between them, said rolls having surfaces adapted tocling or adhere to a towel web, a pinch-rollrb'etween which and said delivery feed roll the clean towel web may bestretched for driving contact with said delivery feed roll, said frame having outwardly f openingl slots in which said pinch roll normallyrests the loose end of the clean web adapted toL be stretched downwardly to form a loop, a gap or opening provided in the rear of said casingV by the forward movement of the frame .providing a passage through which the hand -Ofrthe attendant may be inserted when said frame is swung forwardly, said take up roll being removable from said cabinet for convenience in winding-the loose end of the web thereon, said cabinet having guides wherein rsaid take up roll is inserted for contactv of the towel web thereon withsaid take up feedroll.

3. A towel cabinet comprising an outer easing having guide slots therein on its sides and also having a bottom shelf, a take up roll with its pivots movable in said slots, an inner casing open at its front but closed at its rear normally resting on said bottom shelf and carrying feed rolls on one of which normally rests said take up roll, links pivoted to both oasings and the inner casing being swngable on said links from its position on said shelf to a position at least partially outside the outer easing to Cause an opening back of the inner casing through which a towel web looped below the casing may be threaded to the take up roll.
