- My invention consists of a novel construction, whereby the fingers are readily soldered to the arms in holes connected with a groove, so that a cheap method of securing them is obtained, and they can be readily taken out by the application of a hot iron, and others put in.
- Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved loom-fork, taken on the line 00 w, and Fig. 2 is a plan view.
- A is the aforesaid horizontal arm of the fork, which requires to have a certain width and thickness at B for the fingers O, and also for a good bearing on the pivot, making it much larger and heavier than is needed for strength, which makes more friction on the pivot, and greater strain on the filling than is desirable. Therefore, I propose to make the arm in malleable iron, and chamber out the under side, as at C, to lessen the weight, making the chamber to embrace the greater portion of the part through which the pivot-pin passes, whereby the friction of the fork and the strain on the filling are lessened.

IMPROVEMENT IN WEFT-FORKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 175,396, dated March 28, 1876; application filed December 27, 1875.
' To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CALEB H. WARFIELD, of Whitinsville, Worcester county, Massachusetts,'have invented a new and Improved Loom-Fork, of which the following is a specilication:
My invention consists of a novel construction, whereby the fingers are readily soldered to the arms in holes connected with a groove, so that a cheap method of securing them is obtained, and they can be readily taken out by the application of a hot iron, and others put in.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved loom-fork, taken on the line 00 w, and Fig. 2 is a plan view.

A is the aforesaid horizontal arm of the fork, which requires to have a certain width and thickness at B for the fingers O, and also for a good bearing on the pivot, making it much larger and heavier than is needed for strength, which makes more friction on the pivot, and greater strain on the filling than is desirable. Therefore, I propose to make the arm in malleable iron, and chamber out the under side, as at C, to lessen the weight, making the chamber to embrace the greater portion of the part through which the pivot-pin passes, whereby the friction of the fork and the strain on the filling are lessened.
To connect the lingers D I bore the end of the arm across the groove E, insert the fingers in the holes, and fill the groove With sol- CALEB HENRY WARFIELD.
