IMPROVEMENT IN VEGETABLE-SLICERS.

Be it known that I, AARON C. SLOCUM, of Northville, in the county of Fulton and State of New York, have invented a new and tion of a perspective view of my improved vegetable-slicer. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the same. I

The nature of my invention relatcs to an improvement in vegetable cutters; and consists of' a hinged press-board, having upon its inner face a concave circular plate, and projecting from its certer a spur or pin, which holds and presses the Vegetable within an opening under which vibrates a table carrying a donble-bladed knife, the several operating prts being removably connected to a box or other receptacle, for the purpose of preserving the sliced vegetables from the dust durin g the operation of slicing.

bladed knife, b, secured over an opening, c, in said table. Above this table, and secnred to the frame A, is a flat support, G, having an annular opening, c', over which is placed the Vegetable to be sliced. Hinged to one end of this table is a press-board, D, carrying a concave circular plate, E. A pin or spur, d, projects from the center of said plate, which pierces the Vegetable, and, with the assistance of the concavity in the circular plate E, holds the Vegetable perfectly steady over the opening c' of the support C while being operated upon by the kiiife b. The table B has projecting from its side a rod, e, which passes through an elongated slot, h, in the frane A.

To the end of the rod eis connected one end. oi' a lover, f, the other end of said lever being Secured to a crank-arm, g, by which motion is given to the table B. The frame A has upon each side down wardly projecting cleats i, which fit within a box, F.

The several open-.King parts, as will be seen, are entirely secured to the frame A, and may be removed with said frame from the box F, when it is desired to empty the box of its contents. Thus the sliced vegetables are prei served from the dust during the operation of slicing.

The circnlar plate E being concave, prevents the Vegetable slipping from under the same, while the pin or spur d pierces the Vegetable, and forms an additional security against its turning when acted upon by the knife b.

If desired, several double-bladed knives may be secured to the table, and several supports G, with opening c', nay be Secured to the frane, each having the press-board with concave circular disk and pin or spur.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by-Letters Patent, is

1. The horizontal reciprocating Vegetable slicer A B, operated by a double crank novement, gf, and carrying a double cutter, b, beneath a fixed table or support, C, said sup- "port having an opening, c', or the reception of the Vegetable to be cut, as and for the purpose set forth.

2. A linged concave presser, D, having a 'centering-pin, d, on its under side, in combination with the horizontal slicer and table or Support, as shown and described;
