This invention relates to improvements in extensible tables and has for one of its objects the provision of such a table provided with leaves hidden underneath a table top. The said table top being adapted when the leaves are extended to a predetermined position, to drop ,by gravity into a plane even with the plane of the leaves and form a continuous surface with the said leaves.
Another object of the invention isto provide means whereby the table top will automatically rise above the top surface of the leaves when the table is operated for extension or retraction.
A further object of the invention is to provide means whereby the table top will gradually assume a position even with the leaves at a predetermined point.
Another object is to produce a device of the character described in which the maximum simplicity of construction and operation is secured. I
Other objects and advantages will appear as the nature of the improvements is better understood, the invention consisting substantially in the novel arrangement and co-relation of parts herein fully described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein similar reference characters are used to describe corresponding parts throughout the several views, and then finally pointed out and specifically defined and indicated in the appended claims.
The disclosure made the basis of exemplifying the present inventive concept suggests a practical embodiment thereof, but the invention is not to be restricted to the exact details of this disclosure, and the latter, therefore, is to be understood from an illustrative, rather than a restrictive standpoint.
The inventive idea involved is capable of receiving a variety of mechanical expressions, one of which, for the purposes of illustration, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

At the bottom of the stationary slide 11 there is provided a gear 14 rotatively mounted on a bracket 15 secured to the said slide 11, the said gear 14 is inmesh With toothed racks 16 and 17 secured to the movable slides 12 and 13 respectively. Upon exerting an outward pull upon one of the leaves the table top 20 which is provided with depending arms 21 having rollers 22 mounted thereon and thesaid rollers normally resting in a. cutout in plates 24 secured to the movable slides 12 and 13, the said rollers will ride out 25 on to a surface 26, thus raising the table top above the leaves 18 and. 19.
