This invention relates to improvements in mold form clamps.
The principal object of this invention is to produce a clamp for holding metal forms such as are employed in the constructing of concrete walls and the like structures.
Another object is to produce a clamp which will effectively hold the molds in adjusted position.
Another object is to produce a device which is simple to operate and therefore one which may be used by an unskilled laborer.
A further object is to produce a clamp which may be adjusted to accommodate for varying building conditions.
A still further object is to produce a clamp which is simple in construction and therefore economical to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the forming of concrete structures such as walls, a plurality of mold sections are employed, which mold sections are clamped into position so that concrete may be poured therebetween. In some instances these molds rest directly upon the ground and in some other instances are superimposed upon their partly constructed wall. Heretofore many means have been employed for the securing of these mold sections such as wood and frame work, in combination with braces and wedges and the like clamping means. Such means for maintaining the mold within proper position are cumbersome, expensive and require a 1928. Serial No. 259,243.
large amount of labor which is a costly item when a building must be made at the least possible cost.
In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a pre ferred embodiment of my invention, the numerals 5 and 6 refer to clamp sections. The clamp section 5 has an elongated downwardly extending leg 7 and a short downwardly extending leg 8. The clamp 6 is likewise provided with an elongated downwardly extending leg 9 and a short leg 11.
It is to be understood that there are two of these clamp sections spaced at the opposite ends of the mold sections, designated by the numerals 12, 13, 14 and 16. These mold sections may carry face plates if desired. The short downwardly extending legs 8 and 11 are each provided with a supplemental leg as shown at 17 and 18 respectively. The upper ends of these supplemental legs are bifurcated and held in place by wing nuts as shown at 19 and 21 respectively.
Formed on the cam 28 is a lug 32 which is adapted to enter one of the openings 26 of the clamp member 6. The operating handle 31 is preferably U-shaped, the two ends of the handle being connected by a portion 33. The result of this construction is that when two complete clamp sections are attached to the mold sections and an operating handle connected by the two clamps, the action will be as follows 7 When the parts are in the position shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the mold sections will have their faces in parallel alignment at which time concrete or any other plastic substance may be poured therebetween and after the same has set a SLlflIlClBIlt time to harden, by raising upon the operating handle 33 the cams 28 will be caused to rotate about the lugs 32 which will pivot in the openings 26 in which they are positioned with the result that one clamp section will pivot with respect to the other clamp section to which it is pivotally connected as by the pivot bolts 24. This pivotal action will result in the outer forms 12 and 16 moving away from each other as designated in dotted lines of Figure 2 and at the same time the mold sections 13 and 14 will move towards each other. Assuming that a hollow wall or block is being constructed it is obvious that by moving the outer molds away from each other and the inner molds towards each other that the molds may then be withdrawn from the material thus cast.
It is also obvious that the mold sections 13 1 serting the lugs in the various openings 26.
It will thus be seen that my clamp will function in the manner above described and will perform all of the objects above set forth.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the material size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a clamp of the character described, a pair of overlapping clamp members, each of said clamp members having an integral outer leg and a detachable inner leg, said detachable inner legs being so positioned that they will lie between the integral outer leg and inner detachable leg of the opposite clamping member, means for pivoting said clamping members to each other, means for rotating said clamping members on their pivotal connection for holding said legs in parallel position, said last mentioned means including an operating handle, a cam positioned on said operating handle, said cam being adapted to pivot on one of said clamping members andto engage in a slot in the opposite of said clamping members for the purpose specified.
