This invention relates to devices or constructions providing for the discharge of the contentsof pump,- drill or'other contents-retaining cylinders that are removed or being removed from a well bore, andrelat-es-more particularly to supporting means forsuch cylinders of 5a novel and advantageous constructionavhitzh maybe conveniently mounted on "the derrick floor or other suitable suplo port convenient to the operator.
In the drilling ofwells, it is necessary 'to providefacilities for cutting into and breaking up material-at the bottom of the borerand for confining the loose materialso that it may 1 be withdrawn fron1-the--well boreand discharged. The pump or drill cylinders which are utilized 'forthis purposewusually have a valve inlet at their lower-ends for both liquid and solids orsemi-solids, and a valved outlet at their upper ends through which liquid -maypass untilthe spacewithin' the cylinder is practically filled with loose-material, such .assand, pulverized-rock,etc., at which time the cylinder vis-withdrawn from the well bore i and its contents removed. Such a pump cylinder forms the subject matter of my, prior {Patent No. 1,656,798 granted January 7 l7, v1928,-a1id will be-describedand shown in con- ;nectionwit-h. the device .of the present inven-' tion to illustrate its application. *Whilepartioularly designed for pump cylinders of this character, the present inventionis, however, susceptible of use generally as a discharging I support. for contents-retaining cylinders, and consistsin the combinations and constructions hereinafter pointed out and thereafter defined in the claims.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a base having external edge flanges 2 adapted to overlap and be suitably bolted to the edges outlining an opening in a suit- .with an upwardly inclined flange 5, with its edge concaved'to form anannular tube seat 6.
A tubular member 7 constituting a cylinder support and discharge funnel is mounted upon the annular seat 6, by means of an outwardly flaring external flange 8 intermediate of its ends, this'flange having a diameter to seat .on the support flange and having a convexed-edge 9 contoured to lit the concave of the seat 6.
The interior of the member 7 at a point substantially midway of the tube is formed with an annular flange 10, whose annular horizontal face 11 forms a seat and support for the lower end 'of the pump, drill, etc, cylinder whose contents are to be discharged.
The interior walls of the tube above-and below the seat flange 11 taper'or flare outwardly in opposite directions, the lower taper 12 serving as a discharge funnel and as a guideto assist the contents discharging instrumentalities to return back into the cylinder. The upper tapered portion 13, while preferably upwardly and outwardly tapered as a means'for guiding the lower edge of the drill or pump cylinder to rest onthe flat horizontal seat 11," does not require the same degree of taper as the discharge funnel 12 since it is desirable that the lower edge of the pump or drill cylinder-rests upon the flat annular seat 11. thereby positioning the axis of its bore in alinement with the axis of'the discharge funnel.
The device of the present invention, while particularly desirable for use in connection with combined drill and pump cylinders of the type shown and described in my prior patent aforesaid, is as previously stated, adaptable for use in connection with other 4U I cated for this purpose.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a base having its edge formed to overlie the edges of an opening in a stationary support and having an aperture therein edged by a supporting flange, and a member of tubular formation and having an external supporting flange of a diameter to overlie and rest upon the edge flange of said base aperture, said tubular member extending aperture in the base plate and flaring outwardly and being provided with an internal annular flange forming a cylinder seat above its lower end.
2. A device of the character described having an apertured stationary base plate provided with an elevated supporting flange edging its aperture formed with a concaved seat and with a lateral slot extending inwardly from its edge to said aperture, and a member of tubular. formation having a diameter permitting its insertion through said lateral slot and provided with an external upwardly tapering annular flange of a diameter to overlie said supporting flange and formed with a correspondingly convexed seat engaging surface, said tubular member having an internal annular cylinder seat positioned at a point above its lower end.
3. A device of the character described having in combination a base plate having its edgesvformed to overlie the edges of an opening in a stationary support and provided with an aperture therein edged by a supporting flange, said'base plate having a lateral slot extending inwardly from one edge providing an entrance to said aperture, and a tubular member having an external flange thereon of a diameter to overlie and rest upon said edging flange and having below said flange a diameter insertible through said lateral slot, said tubular member being formed with an internal annular cylinder supporting shelf above its lower end.
4. A device of the character described .comprising in combination'with a stationary support having a slot extending inwardly from one edge thereof, a base plate having its edge formed to overlie the edges of said slot, having an aperture therein edged with a supporting flange, and having a lateral slot extending inwardly from one edge thereof in alinement with the supporting slots providingan entrance to said aperture, a tubular member having a diameter permitting its insertion through said lateral slot and having an ex-- having an external flange of a diameter to overlie and rest upon said base plate att-he edges of its aperture and having its walls oppositely and outwardly flared from an intermediate point of minimum diameter insertible through said lateral slot, said tubular member being formed with an internal annular cylinder supporting shelf adjacent to said point of minimum diameter.
6. A device of the character described, comprising a fixedly supported base plate having an aperture therein within its edges and a lateral communicating slot extending inwardly thereto from one edge, and a tubular member having an external diameter insertible through said slot and provided with means overlying and resting on said base plate at the edges of its aperture, said member depending through said aperture and having its interior provided with an annular cylinder seating flange above its lower end.
