This invention relates to advertising apparatus and especially to that type incorporating display curtains. 7

An object of this invention is to provide a simple, practicable and efficient apparatus for the display of a large number of individual advertisements either in a continuous motion or in intermittent stop periods.

A further object is to provide a machine of compact structure in which a number of endless display curtains are closely installed and provide for large capacity of various display panels without using a large base area or chamber space.

Other objects, advantages and features of construction and combination, and mode of operation will be made manifest in the ensuing description of the herewith illustrative embodiment; it being understood that modi- 20. fications, variations and adaptations may be resorted to within the spirit, scope and principle of the invention as it is more directly claimed hereinafter.

The present machine is incorporated in a suitable housing or cabinet 2 having movable side wall doors 3 whereby to provide access to the mechanism and enable ready change of advertisement belts from time to time. The rear of the cabinet has doors 4.

A feature of this invention is the efiective driving of a plurality of endless curtains from a single drive belt 5 which passes over a top roller 6 and a bottom roller 7 disposed horizontally just in rear of the windowed front 8 of the cabinet. The belt 5 is about as wide as the window whichis. about as wide as window A and loops in front of rollers '67 and lies close to the front 8 and passes back of the drum 10. The weight of the centralcurtain 20 causes it to travel with its supporting belt 5 as thisv is driven.

The top roller 6 is secured on its shaft 6 and to the ends of this are applied extension rollers 6 and 6 which carry draped endless curtains 20 and 20 registering withthe windows B andC. Thelower bights of the curtains 20 -20 are deflected rearward in the. cabinet and carry tension rollers 20 to keep them taut on their drive drums or rollers.

The supplemental drum 13 is secured on shaft 13 and to the ends of this are applied extension drums 13 and 13 on whichhaug endless curtains 21 and 21 which register with windows B C and lie in front of the lower'bights of the curtains 20 20. The curtains 21"21 have tension rollers 22. The front planes of all the curtains are substantially coplanar and lie close to the front windows so that panels X of advertising media are clearly visible, in succession during operation of the machine.

It will be seen that the belt 5 drives the shafts 6 and 13' and these drive the drums carrying the lateral curtains 20, 20, 21 and 21. To change the lateral curtains it is only necessary to-slide them edgewise ofi' their drive rollers. The central curtains 20 may have separable meeting ends attached by any suitable fastening, Fig. 6. The display part of the curtains20 20 are relatively superdisposed as is clearly seen in Fig. 5; the upper curtains deflecting back over guides 28-29 to clear th drums 13 13.

What is claimed is:

' 1. In an advertising apparatus, a windowed front wall, a system of display curtains with portions in a common plane at said front to be seen through the windows,

a drive belt on whichone of the curtains is suspended to be driven, and supplemental drive drums carrying respective curtains of the system and driven by said belt.

2. In an advertising apparatus, a windowed front wall, a system of display curtains with portions in a common plane at said front to be seen through the windows,

a drive belt on which one of the curtains 4. In an advertising apparatus, a windowed wall and a system of endless display curtains exhibitive at the Windows concurrently, an endless driven belt carrying one of the curtains, and extension drums driven by said belt and carrying the remaining curtains, and tension means for the belt to secure friction of the belt on the driven drums.

6. In an advertising apparatus, a top roller and a bottom roller and a driven drum, a drivebelt running from rollerto roller and having a bight around said drum, a tensioning roller for the belt, a supplemental drum driven by the belt and having extension roller drums, said top roller having extension drums, and a system of endless display curtains one of which is carried by the belt and the others by respective extension drums.
