This invention relates to improvements in curtain attaching means and has particular reference to a device for the purpose of maintaining a curtain drapery or the like upon a pole or rod in such a manner that the curtain or drapery may be conveniently and easily moved over said rod.

The principal object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which may be readily moved over the curtain rod in counter-distinction to the sliding type of ring which must be slid on the pole thereby necessitating the removal of the pole from the conventional brackets.

A further object of the invention is to provide a new article of manufacture which has a variety of uses, and one which is simple in construction, economical to manufacture and highly serviceable.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of our invention, the numeral 10 designates as a whole a single strand of wire preferably of a pliable nature, which is so shaped as to provide two parallel arms 11, terminating at their lower extremities in pointed ends 12 and bent intermediate their length to provide loops 1?), and likewise being bent adjacent their upper extremities as at 14, to provide a clownwardly extending hook 15 equipped with a hump 16.

nates a section of a Kirsch rod or flat extension and the application of the fastening means thereto is clearly shown, with the hump 16 receivable in the opening provided between the upper and lower portion of the IOC.

In the application of the device to a portion of drapery, the arms 11 are first utilized to penetrate a crimped portion of the drapery, the hook element 15 is then bent back wards. Thereafter the arms 11 are bent frontwardly so as to overlie the loops 13 thus assuring a positive retention of the fastening element within the fabric.

The device thus secured is then positioned over the rod 17 thus providing a neat and convenient arrangement for the fastening elements over the rod, and further eliminating the necessity of removing the rod from the conventional brackets, which is customarily done when draperies are suspended.

It will thus be seen that we have provided a very simple device which will perform all of the objects above set forth.

It is to be understood that the form of our invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes relative to the size, shape, material and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having thus described our invention, we claim 1. In combination with a curtain rod having a groove therein, of a curtain attaching device comprising a single piece of wire bent to provide two substantially parallel arms terminating in pointed extremities, loops formed in said arms, the upper portion of said arms being bent upon themselves to provide a hook element adapted to be engaged over the curtain rod, and a hump formed in said hook element adjacent the terminus of the same, said hump being positioned in the groove of the rod.

2. In combination with a curtain rod, having a groove therein, of a curtain attaching device embodying in its construction a single piece of Wire bent to provide tWo depending arms terminating in pointed extremities, loops formed in said arms substantially intermediate of their length, the upper portions of said arms being bent downwardly to provide a hook element engaged over the curtain rod,-and a hump-formed in said hook element, said .hump being positioned in the groove of the rod, whereby the device is retained on said rod against displacement.
