of a heating flame effecting aprogressiveheat- I p m ing. The plate in question may from a warm soft mass by casting or rolling and is cut out according to the predetermined size adapted to the corresponding surface to be coated. When the plates are of great size,
into rolls after being suitably sprinkled with talc so as to avoid adhesion and are then cooled down. In this cooled condition the plates may be kept for any desired time or shipped either rolled up or in a at flat state. According to the process of the present invention the said plates may also e made up of a normal size and are kept in stock as flat plates. Such plates are flexible to a slight extent even at an ordinary temperature and are applied to the surface to be protected by slight warming, it being obvious that instead of heating the plate also the surface tobe coated may be progressively heat ed, and in a corresponding degree the plate itself is gradually pressed thereon. The procedure of applying the plate in a melting condition to the surface of a wall may suitor ably be assisted by pressing a wooden metallic roller thereon. The plate to be applied to has due to the warming a more or less fluid layer which with the assistance of the pressure of the compressional roller is pressed, for instance, against a plastered wall surface of plate facing the Wall also the edges of the plate already applied to are somewhat heated and when the inner surfaces of the plates are be formed 1am, semi no. 223,248, and in GermanyAuguit 9,1921;

What I claim is: v
1. The method of covering surfaces with relatively thick layers of a fusible" material in a substantially solid condition which comprises applying a layer of said material to the surface to be covered, heating the face of the material in contact with the surface to be covered in order to partially fuse said face, and thereafter pressing the layer against the surface.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a surface covered with a relatively thick layer of a fusible material, the face thereof in contact with the surface being fused and pressed against said surface. Y
In testimony whereof I affix mysignature.
HEINRICH BORSABI-FISCHER.
and is thus adapted to be securely kept there-
