more particularly to paper containers for use in packing garden seeds, which containers also may be used in scattering the seeds when it is desiredto plant them.

It is a purpose of this invention to provide a container of this character which can be readily sealed and which is also provided with means to facilitate the spreading of the seeds iiTplanting.

It is also an object of this invention to provide a dispensing nozzle or channel on the container which is adapted to be folded within the container when it is sealed but which can be withdrawn from within the container and utilized as a means for scattering the seeds in planting them directly from the container.

Other objects and advantages of the inven- 29 tion will appear as the description proceeds when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings. However, it is to be distinctly understood that I do not intend to limit myself to the exact details shown and described, but that I intend to avail myself of all such modifications as fall within the scope of the claims.

,Referring now in detail to the drawings, the container illustrated generally by the numeral 5 is constructed from a single sheet of material having the side portions 6 and 7 which fold together along the line 8 to form the opposite side walls of the container. The portion 7 is provided with the vertically extending flap 9 which is adapted to fold over the free edge of the portion 6 into the position shown in Fig. 1. and to be firmly secured thereto by means of a glue or suitable securing means. The portion 7 is also provided with the flap 10 adapted to fold up in the position shown in Fig. 1 to close'the bottom of the container. When the blank is folded in the above described manner, it forms a pocket having the opposed sides secured together along three edges with an opening along the fourth edge whereby the pocket may be filled with seed. The portion 7 of the blank it will be noted has an extending blank portion 11 -which, when folded in a manner to be hereinafter described, forms a dispensing channel indicated generally by the numeral 12 in Fig. 1. The blank portion 11 has the side portion 13 adapted to fold inwardly along the line 14 and the side portion 15 adapted to fold along the line 16, the portion 15 being preferably folded over'the portion 13 as shown in Fig. 1 and secured thereto so as to form a channel whichis funnel-like in shape.

It will be noted that theportion 15 has curved edges 17 and 18 leaving a pointed ortion 19 where the two curved edges join.

This dispensing channel is adapted to fold along the line 24 inside the container when it is desired to seal the same and the side wall portion 6 is provided with the flap 25, which 1 as shown in Fig. 2, folds over the dispensing channel and may be fastened to the opposite side wall 7 in any suitable manner.

From the above description, it is thought thatthe construction and use of this device will be clear to those skilled in this art and having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

A container comprising a body portion having opposed side walls secured together along certain edges to provide a seed retaining ocket, one of said-walls projecting beyond the. other and provided with side portions extending inwardly toward each other and secured together to form a tubular dispensing channel portion, said channel portion being provided with an opening at the outer end through which the contents of the package may be discharged, one of the walls surrounding said opening projecting beyond the opposite wall to provide a spreading surface over which the contents of the container pass.
