HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT oo., OF'BATTLE, CREEK, MICHIGAN LIGHT-TREATMENT vAPPARATUS Application led October 30, 1926. VSerial No. 145,230.
The main objects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved therapeutic or light treatment apparatus employing lamps ofthe Yarc type. Y
Second, to provide an improved apparatus of this character whichis well adaptedvfor use in hospitals and the like, permitting the simultaneous treatment of a number of patients, the apparatus at the same timerbeing compact and simple in structure.
Objects pertaining to details and economies of my inventionwill definitely appear from the detailed description tofollow. The invention is clearly delinedand pointed out in the claims.Y f
A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanyingdrawing forming a part of this application, in which Fig. 1 is aperspective view of a therapeutic apparatus embodying the features ofmy invention, the two outer tables being shown in treating position and the other tables being partially withdrawn.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary section on a line corresponding to line 2-'2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a detail` section on a line corresponding to line 3-3 'of Fig. 1 showing details of the frame structure.
Fig. 4 is 'an enlarged detail section on line 1---4V of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a detail view partially in section through one of the lamps.
In the embodiment of my invention illustrated, I provide a pair of open frames disposed side by side in spaced relation, each frame comprising corner uprights l connected by top longitudinal side rails 2 and bottom longitudinal side rails 3, and by the top end rails 4 and bottom end rails 5.
The top rails 2 and 4 and the uprights 1 are joined together by suitably conforming their ends to lit as shownin Fig. 3 and welding as by Van acetylene weld. The bottom rails 3 and V5 are provided with joint members 6 which have plug extensions 7 fitting into the ends of the rails and seats 8 fitting against the sides of the uprights 1.
The Vuprights carry inwardly proj ecting arms or brackets 10 on which the tracks 11 are mounted. The tablev 12 is supported at its inner end by the rollers 13. The axle r14C on which the rollers `13 are mounted is carried by the brackets 15. Y
The frontend of the table is supported by a pedestal consisting of legs 16 connected by the cross piece 17 and braced by the braces 18. Each leg is provided with a wheel 16. Thus supported the table may be readily telescoped into the frame. The second frame and its table is a duplicate of the frame and table described.
Each frame is provided with laterally projecting lamp supporting arms or brackets 19 carrying lamps 20, the inner arms of the two frames coacting to support a pair of lamps between the pair of frames. Each pair of lamps is provided with a rheostat 21. The
electrical connections for the lamps, rheo-A stats and control switches are not illustrated as it is believed that these will be readily understood by those skilled in the art.
Each pair of lamps 0r lamp units is provided with an elongated downwardly flaring reflector 22 which are at the sides of the frames in cooperative relation to the tables 12 and to the tables 23 which are arranged at .1
the outer sides of the frames. These tables are of suitable character to support a patient so that the apparatus illustrated is adapted for the simultaneous treatment vof four patients, there being three lamp units.
The lamps illustrated are arclamps, the
electrodes 24-and25 thereof'being within thel reflectors, while the control mechanism of the lamp'is above the'retlector asshown in'Fig. 5.
With this arrangement Yof parts I .secure an ypen'detl'at'tlie sides of i'saidfframeA prot-fl apparatus which is highly eflicient for the administering of light treatments and is well adapted for use in hospitals, sanitariums and the like, where it is desired to economize on space and there are numerous patients to be treated.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
