A strap part 21 consisting of a plurality of block links is connected to the channel sec tions 10 bymeans of a pivot pin 22 engaging the side walls 11 and 12 thereof, while the strap part 23 is connected between ears 24 bent up from the side of the plate section 17 by a pivot pin 25 engaging the member 26 which has a fingerpiece 27 extending from one edge thereof to overlie the strap part 21 and provide a portion for engagement by the fingernail to lift the section 17 from clasped position to permit it to be swung about its hinge 18 to unfolded position.
The member 26 is shaped to conform to the appearance of the links of the strap part 23 and serves as a terminal or end thereof with wire'portions 29 for connecting it to the remainder of the strap part 23 and the member is provided with a pair of eyes 30 extending from its upper surface thru which the pivot pin 25 extends to hold it in position.
The section 17 is notched as at 28 in order to prevent the fingerpiece 27 from engaging with the section 17 when the device is in extended position, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and thus prevent the exertion of leverage by a pull on the strap 13, between the connections of the member 26 and the section 17 which might injure the parts. v
The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of restoring to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. An extension device for a wrist strap comprising a plurality of sections hinegd togetherto fold one over the other, portions extending laterally from the opposite edges of one of said sections intermediate its ends, and arch-shaped resilient fingers on another of said sections between which said portions may snap to hold said section in folded position, said fingers being arc-shaped in the longitudinal direction of said sections.
- 2. An extension device for a wrist strap comprising a plurality of sections hinged together to fold one over the other, arc-shaped portions extending laterally from the opposite edges of one of said sections intermediate its ends, and resilient fingers on-another of said sections between which said portions may snap, said fingers being arc-shaped in the longitudinal direction of said sections'to engage the said portions along an extended surface and hold said section in folded position.
3. An extension device for a wrist watch strap comprising a pair of sections hinged to gether to fold one on the other, one of said sections being in plate form with protuberan e on itsopposite sides and positioned adjacent but spaced from its free end, the other section being channel shape in cross section with each of said channel walls having a pair of spaced slits forming between the slits a resilient finger, said fingers being positioned to extend over said protuberances when snapped therebetween.
4. An extension device for a wrist watch strap, comprising-a pair of sections hinged together to fold one on the other, one of said sections being in plate form with arc-shaped bulging portions extending from its opposite sides and positioned adjacent but spaced from its free end, the other section being channel shaped in cross sections with each of said channel walls having a pair of spaced slits extending a short distance into the bottom of said channel section forming between the slits a resilientfinger, said fingers being curved on substantially the arc of said bulging portions to engage the same throughout thecurved surface I and bent inwardly and outwardly at their edgesto receive and extend over said bulging portions when snapped therebetween.
5. An extension device for a wrist watch strap, comprising a pair of sections hinged together to fold one over the other, means for 'releasably retaining said sections in folded position, ears on one of saidsections, a member. pivoted in said ears, a fingerpiece extending from said member for manual engagement to unfold said sections, and a notch in the end of said sections to prevent engagement of said fingerpiece and section when in unfolded position. r
6. An extension device for a wrist watch strap comprising a pair of sections hinged together to fold one on the other, one of said sections being in plate form, the other section being channel shape in cross section with each of said channel walls having a pair of spaced slits forming betweenthe slits a resilient finger, said fingers being positioned to extend over the edges of said plate section when snapped therebetween.
7. An extension device for a wrist watch strap comprising. a pair of sections'hinged together to fold one on the other, one of said sections being in plate form, the other seeeach .of said channel walls having a pair of spaced substantially parallel slits forming between the slits a resilient finger, said fingers being'inclined inwardly-to extend over the edges of said plate section when snapped therebetween.
. 8. An extension device for a wrist watch strap, comprising a bottom section and a top section hinged together with the top section overlying the bottom section, means for releasably retaining said sections in folded potion being channel shape in cross section with sition, and a member having a fingerex tene I sion for manual engagement pivoted to the outer surface of the free end of said top section for lifting or pulling the free end of the top section away from the bottom section.
9. An extension device for a Wrist Watch strap comprising a bottom section and a top section hinged together with the top section overlying the bottom section, means for releasably retaining said sections in folded position ears on the top section adjacent its free end and extending outwardly therefrom, a member pivoted in said ears and a finger-' piece extending from said member for manual engagement to lift or pull the free end of the top section away from the bottom section.
