IMPROVEMENT IN JACQUARD MECHANISMS FOR LOOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,924. datedFebruary 22, 1876; application filed December 18, 1875.
.To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEO. F. EISENHARDT, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Jacquard Mechanisms for Looms; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a side elevation of my machine, and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view thereof. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view of the same.
This invention has relation to means for operating the patterneprism of the jacquard; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the rocking S cams and the mechanism connected therewith, whereby the cylinder or prism can be reversed in case of mistake, mispick, or broken filling, as hereinafter shown and described.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the loom-frame; B, the rising and falling frame or griff of the harnessoperating mechanism; 0, the vibrating-frame of the pattern-prism, provided with slots a, in which rotate the journals of the prism D. E E designate the upper and lower books or pawls, whereby the prism is rotated forward or backward, as the case may be. These hooks are designed to be connected by means of a link, I). F represents the lever mechanism, whereby the grit'tframe is raised and lowered. To this frame are attached the S-cams G, which engage with the studs 0 of the press or prism-frame.
- to rock, when required, on suitablebearings d, as indicated in the drawings. This frame is provided with an operating-lever, L, to
whichis pivoted the handle of a spring-catch, K, winch engages with a bearing, 6, in an arc, g, of the griff-frame.
One of the prism-hooks is provided with an elongated arm, h, to which is attached an operating-cord, k, whereby the lower or reversing hook which, in the ordinary movement,
gravitates out of engagment with the prism is brought in gear, the upper hook being thrown out.
When the spring-catch is engaged with its bearing, the Scams will be held rigidly in position to move the press outward and inward as the griff-frame rises and falls.
Should it be necessary to reverse the movement, or to operate the jacquard by hand for one or two motions, the spring-catch is disengaged and the lever L moved backward or forward, as may be required, the cord It being pulled to engage the lower hook if the reversing movement is necessary.
The construction of the catch or stop K may be varied, according to the plan of the loom. I do not desire to confine myself to the springcatch or to a catch of the precise construction herein described.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1'. The combination, in a jacquard with the rising and falling frame B and the prismframe or. press 0, of the rocking cam-frame, having a stop or catch and connected with said l'rames B and O, substantially as specified.
2. The combination with a rising and falling frame, B, having a bearing arc, g, of the frame H, provided with an operating-lever, L, and spring-catch K, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed by name in the presence of two witnesses.
enonen F. EISENHARDT.
