This invention relates to nozzle construction, and more particularly to nozzles of the type employed in cutting the edge of wet paper, during the manufacture of paper.
lhe primary object of the invention is the provision of a nozzle constructed in such a way that it will not be affected by the water passing therethrough, which would ordinaril cause rust or corrosion at the nozzle to in ure the paper stock.
Another object of the invention is to provide an inner glass tube so constructed that foreign matter which may be carried into the nozzle, will be caught in a pocket between the tube and body of the nozzle and will not be carried through the nozzle to the paper under treatment.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be inade within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the'invention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the nozzle includes a body portion formed of separable sectibns 5 and 6 respectively, the section 5 having an extension 7.
The extension 7 is threaded and is fitted in the threaded bore of the section 6, as b clearly shown by Figure 2, there being provided a suitable packing material '8 arranged 1928. Serial 1%. 291,645.
between the end of the extension 7 and shoulder 9 of the Section 6 to insure a fluid tight connection.
' As shown, the section 7 is formed with an enlarged threaded bore 10 formed with a tapered extremity 11 to define a pocket with one end of the glass tube 12, which extends through the body portion of the device and through which the water passes.
The opposite end of the tube 12 is tapered as at 13 and fits within a tapered extremity of the bore in the section 6 with the result that water passinginto the nozzle will con tact with the glass tube and force the tube into close engagement with the inclined surface of the section 6.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, the water which passes through the nozzle, under great pressure will pass through the glass tube to the end that the life of the nozzle will be greatly increased, over the usual metal nozzle now in use and the condition of the water passing through the nozzle will be clean at all times.
It will also be seen that any foreign matter which may be carried to the nozzle, will collect in the pocket between the tube 12 and upper section 5 and will not be carried through the nozzle.
Should it be desired to repair the nozzle, it may be readily and easily disassembled by unscrewing the sections, whereupon the sections may be, readily screwed together after such necessary repairs have been made.
I claim:
A nozzleof the. class described including a sectional body portion, one of the sections other section having an enlarged threaded bore and having a smaller bore formed with a tapered portion, packing material disposed etween the sections, a gl' tube having tapered ends fitted in the elongated extension and having one end engaging the tapered portion of the bore of the second mentioned section to insure a close fit between the tube and bore, the first mentioned section having an enlarged threaded bore into which the op posite end of the tube extends, the last-mentioned end of the tube being supported in spaced relation with the wall of the last mentioned enlarged bore.
