This invention relates to a door or window construction wherein the door or window trames are slidable between horizontal rails and are adapted to close a large door or window opening', irrespective et where the opening may be in a building.
nEhe primary object olf my invention is to provide slidable door and window frames especially designed tor leaded lights which lend weight to such iframes, and the trames have been constructed so that the lights can be easily and quickly installed together with means :tor insuring easy adjustment of the door or window trames.
further object et my invention is to turnish door or window trames with meeting rails that insure a tight connection at the juncture of said frames when closed, and outer rails of the frames are provided with -weather strips to exclude the elements adj acent said rails.

Extending longitudinally of the lintel 2 and the sill 3 are top and bottom guide rails 5 and 6 respectively. These rails are angular in cross section9 may be secured. in place by 1927. Serial No. 194,929.

Slidable between the guide rails 5 and 6 are door or window trames preferably made of metal and identical in construction, therefore I deem it only necessary to consider one ot' the trames, which is composed of a top rail 9, a meetingl rail 10, an outer rail 11 and a sectional bottom rail 12. rlhe top rail 9 is substantially H-shaped in cross section so as to provide a channel 18 to receive the top guide rail 5 and a channel to receive a light 14. `The meeting),` rail 10 and the outer rail l1 are spot welded or otherwise connected to the top rail 9, and said meeting` and outer rails have the confronting edges thereot provided with channels to receive the side edges of the light 14.
The sectional bottom rail 12 is composed of two iiat bars maintained in spaced relation by rollers or wheels 16 rotatable on screws or transverse members 17 connecting the par allel bars, said bars forming a channel to receive the bottom guide rail 6 so that the rollers or wheels may travel on the guide rail. The bottom rail 12 also attords a channel for the lower edge oit the light 14; and the ends of the bottom rail may be connected to the lower ends of the meeting rail 10 and the outer rail 11 by any suitable fastening means, aS :at 18;
The light 14 may have a multiplicity oli leaded panes of glass and a light may be held in each frame by putty 19 or other fastening means. f
The meeting rails 10 are constructed to afford a tongue and groove connection 20 when the trames are in a closed position, and a conventional form of pivoted latch 21 and a keeper 22 may be employed for retaining the frames closed.
Attached to the stiles 4f, by screws 23 or other fastening means are vertically disposed hook shaped strip members 2li that are adapted to be engaged by somewhat similar shaped complemental strip members 25, carried by the outer rails 11 of the door or window trames. The strip members 24: and 25 are adapted to cooperate in forming a weather strip to exclude the elements from the interior of a compartment having the sliding door or window frames.
