Description

Dec. 10, 1929. M. c. 1.o BovEs PIPE CLEANER Filed Nov. 28, 1928 Patented Dec. 10, 1929 UNITEDr STTEd PA OFFICE MICHAEL CHARLES LO BOVES, OF RIDGEFIELD PARK, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR T0 UNITED PIANO STRING- CIVIPANY, 0I*1 NEW YORK, N. Y., A GRPORATION 0F NEW YORK PIPE CLEANER Application filed November 28, 1928. Serial No. 322,570.
The object of this invention is to provide a new and improved pipe cleaner, by which obstructions or dirt can be removed from a Waste or server pipe.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is an elevation illustrating` the device in use in a litchen sinlr Waste pipe.
' Figure 2 is an enlarged view of the cleaner, and
Figure 8 is a partial elevation illustrating a modification.
The device consists of a Wire A, one end of Which is bent 'to form a prongI or hook B, and the other end of which is bent to form a handie which may be a loop C, as shown in Fig ure 2, or a transverse section C', as shown in Figure 3.
A short Wire D is coiled on the main Wire A near the prong thereof and has a free end bent to form a prong,I or hoolr E opposing the prong or hook B.
A supplemental Wire F is coiled tightly around the main Wired/l so that the inain and supplemental Wires are tied or locked together. This tight ceiling of the supplemental Wire around the main Wire prevents the device from lrinlring when in use; and as the two Wires cannot shift or move relatively to each other, the supplemental wire cannot slip to interfere With the handle or the prongs, and the device can be easily cleaned or wiped after use as very little, if any, moisture can get inside the coils of the supplemental Wire.
If a Waste pipe is plugged, the drain at the entrance is removed and the cleaner is insert ed down in the pipe as far as it Will Oo. Then it is tvvirled around and after a few minutes twirling it is pulled out. 1Whatever substance has been clogging the pipe will adhere to the prongs and thus can be removed. The cleaner is vviped off and the operation is repeated until the pipe is cleared and functions properly. Thus, a simple, ecient and cheap article is provided for the purpose stated.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as nen7 and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A pipe cleaner comprising` a main Wire having one end bent to forni a prong or hook,
MICHAEL GHAS. LO BOVES.
