which each plate cylinder carries two tubular single-page plates and prints upon a two -page wide web.
These so-called tubular pressesv operate on the so-called straight line principle, and print duplicate consecutive impressions upon y the web so that no collecting is ever required.
Y The present invention is especially designed for'use in connection with tubular presses having three or more decks and capable of printing E24 or lmore newspaper pages at each operation.' Heretofore. such presses have sometimes been provided with two folders so o that they could print and deliver twopapers over to and associated with the webspassing. the former of the other folder, anddelivered simultaneously in book fold; alsofheretofore` two folders have been arranged one above the` other. to enable two book fold papers to 4be delivered simultaneously from one suchl press.
With such a superposedarrangement of foldf. ers one group.` of webs after passing the former of one folder .could be led to thefirst' fold rolls'of/the other folder so that a single paper wouldbe delivered in ltwo seetions by the latter folder. .Y l V p .Alsoheretofore two such tubular presses have been arrangedside byr side each withaA folder, so that each might deliver la .paper in book fold; or the webs from one -P'ress after` passing vthe former of its folder could be -led as one large paper in two sections'. 4Theuse of a plurality of folders involvesconsiderable expense; Y and v to arrange two folders or' formers oneabove the other necessitates a great deal of head room in the press room, and also requires the pressman -to climb up on a platform to get access to the upper folder or former in threading webs thereto.

I'have described the delivery of 24 page papers in two equal 12 page sections; but obviously if additional perfecting mechanism or additional decks are employed, papers of larger size and of greater variety can be produced.
With this' invention a single page tubular press of anysiz'e can be made to deliver papers up to the full capacity of the press in either book fold or sections. Of course the size of the papers as a whole, and the number of pages in each section, can be varied according to the number of webs employed.
A press equipped with my invention can be conveniently and readily threadedV by a ed webs from the auxiliary former can be directed to the rst fold rolls of the folder to be assembled with the other webs passing direct to the folder to produce papers in sections.
