This invention relates to olf bags in general, and specifically to gol bags which are provided with longitudinal divisional walls to form separate compartments, such as disclosed and claimed in my co-pending application Serial No. 271,791 filed concurrently herewith.

In the conventional olf bags a pocket is provided at the side of the bag and outside thereof to receive a plurality of golf balls. The average golf player usualy likes to play with a new ball, particularly in putting on the green, but when teeing off or shooting over a water hazard he usually likes to use an old ball so that if the ball oes into the water and becomes lost his loss is negligible. By having the balls all mixed up in a side pocket he either has to pick out each ball individually or else he has to spill all the balls out on the ground to select the one to be used and replace them in the pocket. In a course which has many hazards, this procedure becomes irritating and monotonous and may even have a bearing on the players game. Also, the present bags make no provision for holdmg clothes, such as a sweater or a raincoat. If the clothes are placed in the bottom of the bag they will interfere with the clubs and even then they will not be adequately protected from the elements; nor is there any means provided for locking the bag to prevent the clothes and balls from being stolen. In the present invention a watertight comartment is provided in which clothing may e stored and used as desired, and whenever the player requires a different ball all that is necessary is to open the pocket by a mere pull of a link and all the balls are in plain sight and in separate compartments. By arranging the ball pocket within the bag, the outside of the-ba is free from protruding arts which greatl y enhances its appearance. hen by using the hookless fasteners on the side of the storage compartment access to the clothes and the balls is prevented.

Another object is to provide a new and novel golf bag which has a compartment for holding golf clubs and a separate com artment for storing clothes and the like WhlCll is provided with a watertight cover and which is suitably divided to form se arate means for carrying a plurality of golf alls in a part of the compartment and still have ample room remaining for storing and carrying clothing.

And a still further object is to provide simple and novel means for locking the storage compartment to revent access to either the clothing or the ba 1 pocket.

Referring to the drawings, 6 desi nates a golf bag having a top ring or collar a bottom 8 and a cylindrical body or casing 9. The bag is provided with the usual stays 10, a handle 11 and a strap 12.

16 and 17. The compartment 16 is relatively narrow to receive golf clubs which may be conveniently arranged about the periphery thereof. The compartment 17 is relatively large to provide ample storage space to receive clothing or other necessary equipment. This construction is described and claimed in the aforesaid co-pending application and forms no part of the present invention except in the combination herein claimed.

A watertight cover 18 is arranged to fit over the top of the compartment 17 and this cover may be fixed to the collar 7 and the wall 17, or it may be hinged or made removable as desired.

Arranged within the compartment 17 and below the cover 18 is a pocket 19 which is divided by vertical strips 20 and transverse strips 21 to form individual compartments 22 to reeeivegolf balls 23'; The pocket 19 is made of flexible material stich as canvas and has a turned edge 24 about its periphery to provide means for sewing or otherwise securing the pocket to the bag. is pocket is preferably made in two sections as shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 6, or it may be made in one or any number of sections. The bag is also slit below the ball pocket 19 at 28 and another liooltles's fastener 29 is fastened to the flaps 80 and on line with the fastener 27 to provide means for closing the lower part of the bag. This construction permits free access to the compartment 17 below the pocket i'v'ithmit interfering in any way with the ball pocket 19 or with the fasteii'et 27. The fastener 27- is in closed positloti when the clip 31 is pulled down, and the fastener 29 is in closed position when the clip is pulled up.
