This invention relates to improvements in cleaning devices of the type generally known as vacuum cleaners, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide an improved device of this character which is particularly adapted, though not necessarily limited in its use, for cleaning ovens such as bakers ovens and the like.
A further object is to provide an improved cleaner of this character which may be employed for cleaning the oven While the latter is hot, and the device includes improved means for handling the hot refuse removed from the oven, and at the same time avoid danger of injuring the apparatus and also the operator thereof.
A further object is to provide an improved portable apparatus of this character which will be of a simple and compact arrangement,
eifective and eflicient in operation and readily adaptable for cleaning parts which it is ordinarily diflicult to gain access to.
To the attainment of these ends and the accomplishment of other new and useful objects as. will appear, the invention consists in the features of novelty in substantially the construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed and shown in the accompanying drawing illustrating this in vention, and in which 1 Figure 1 is a view partly in side elevation,
partly in section and partly broken away of an apparatus of this character constructed in accordance with the principles of this invention.

Referring more particularly to the drawing the numeral 10 designates generally a supporting structure which may be of any desired size and configuration and constructed of any suitable material.
The supporting structure is preferably in the form of a truck like formation having rear wheels 11 and a front or castor wheel 12 swiveled for movement with respect to the su porting structure 10. En the upper portion of the supporting structure 10 is swiveled an element 13 pro- Serial No. 71,282.
vided with spaced bifurcated supports between which a tubular member 14 is'disposed. The member 14 is supported by the element 13 preferably by means of trunnions or projections 15 on the tubular member 14 which are seated in the respective bifurcated portions of the element 13.
The tubular member 14 is of any desired length and diameter and constructed of any suitable material, preferably metal, and connected to one end thereof is a tubular extension 16. This section 16 may be secured to the section 14 in any suitable manner preferably by means of one end of the member 1a telescoping into the section 14 and a pin C5 17 and bayonet slot connection 18 is provided for securing these parts together.
Atthe end of the section 16 is arranged a nozzle 19 of any desired construction but is preferably of a configuration to provide an elongated comparatively narrow slot 20 forming the inlet opening to the nozzle.
Brush like members 21 preferably constructed of a substantially rigid material such as wire or the like may be secured to the end of the nozzle 19 and on opposite sides of the inlet opening 20 to project beyond the end of the nozzle for the purpose of facilitating in the removal of any foreign matter which might adhere to the Walls of the oven, This material and the refuse in the oven may be removed from the walls thereof or agitated by a manipulation of the nozzle within the oven. f
Suction is created in the nozzle through the tubular sections 16 and 14 in any suitable manner preferably by means of a suction creating device 22 in the form of a rotary fan which is arranged within a casing 23. The tubular section 14 is preferably detachably secured to the casing23 of the fan 22 in any suitable manner such as by means of a pin and bayonet slot connection 2425.
The fan casing 23 is provided with a discharge outlet opening 26 to which a container 27 is secured preferably by means of a tubular member 28 to which the container is attached and which tubular element is connected with the discharge outlet of the fan eas 100 ing preferably by means of a pin and bayonet slot connection 2980.
The container or receptacle 27 is preferably constructed of any suitable fabric which will permit the air currents to pass there through and is removably secured to the element 28in any, suitable manner.
The element28 issof such a size and configuration and the supporting structure 10 is of such a height that the bagpr receptacle 27 will be supported above the floor.
Within the bag or receptacle 27 is alstrainer or filter 31 which may be constructed'of any suitable reticulated materialgsuchas metal, preferably in the form of wire gauze and is securedqin any:suitable manner to the element 28.1, V

Obviously any number of sections 14: and 16 may be provided and detachably connect ed together in any suitable manner so as to lengthen or shorten the same.
The nozzle 195-is also. detachably secured to the; section-41 6 in any suitable manner.
In use it Will be manifest that by means of the handles 38 and 39 the apparatus may be swung about'the pivots 15 and also may be rotated on a vertical axis through the medium of the swivel connection of the element 13 :withxth6:supponh1,0. The castor 12 being swiveled to the support 10 also facilitates in; the manipulation of the device.
When the suction creating; device 22 is in; operationiand whenthe nozzle19 is inserted in; the oven; the operator may move the inlet ;end ofjthe nozzle over; the surface of the ovenntoascrape cr -removeforeign particles from the-wall of theovenandwwhen theisuction creating device 22 operatesfther foreign matterwill beidrawn into the-nozzle through thee fan casing; and {discharged through the element 28 into the metallic filter or strainer- 31vvhereitwill be confined! 3. cleaning apparatus for bakers ovens embodying a support, a tubular element pivotally mounted upon the support, a suction nozzle at one end of the element, a casing at the other end of the element and with which casing the element has communication, a discharge outlet leading from the casing, a suction creating device in the casing, means for actuating the said suction creating device, and a receptacle connected with the discharge outlet of the casing for receiving the foreign particles and separating them from the air, all of said parts being mounted upon the support for swinging movements on axes intersecting each other.
