UNrTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EUGENE SLOSSON, OF MORRIS, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN SCRAP ER ATTACHMENTS FOR PLOWS.

The object of this invention is to furnish an improved scraper attachment for wheel cornplows, which shall be so constructed as to allow the scraper to be adjusted at any desired angle, and which shall be simple in construction, effective in operation, and convenient in use, being easily attached to and detached from the beams of the corn-plow.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawing and then pointed out in the claims.
A are the scraper plates or blades, to which are rigidly attached two arms or supports, B. The arms B are so formed as to fit against the opposite sides of the lower ends of the standards 0, to which they are secured by a bolt, 0, thus pivoting the said scrapers to the said standards. The ends of the arms B project at the rear side of the standards 0, and have holes formed through them to receive wooden pins D, which are made sufficiently strong to resist the draftstrain under ordinary circumstances, but which, should the scrapers A strike an obstruction, will break and allow the scrapers to swing back to prevent them from being broken. E is a wedge interposed between the wooden pin D and the standard 0, so that by forcing the said wedge E down or up the pitch of the scrapers A may be adjusted, as
connections that will give the braces I the necessary play. The standards (3 are extended upward so far that the cross-bar H may be above the drivers seat. 'J are arms, the
rear ends of which are rigidly attached to the standards 0, and which are designed to be bolted to the plow-beams, the ordinary standards being detached from said beams. The standards G are strengthened against the draft-strain by the braces K, the forward ends of which are secured to the forward ends of the arms J, and their rear ends are secured to the lower parts of the said standards 0.
Having thus described my invention, I
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination, with scraper-plate A and standard 0, of the connecting-plates B B, rigidly fastened to the former, andi'pivoted to the latter, as and for the purpose decribed.
2. The combination of plates A B and standard G,the former pivoted to and projecting behind the latter, witha cross-pin, D, and wedge E, to adjust pitch of scrapers, as set forth.
3. The combination, with scrapers A, attached to pivoted plates B, of standards 0 O,
crossbar H, and' braces I, all loosely connected, as and for the purpose specified.
v EUGENE SLOSSON.
